Had to report and block at least 6 people in one room last night.

The worst part is the abusive shaders they use screw up your whole vision so you can't even see the menu.

Oh I had one evening when I had to block a lot of people just because they used oversized or genuinely stupid avatars...

The pattern I noticed is 90% of them were desktop users and white nameplates.

Oversized I can deal with, it's slightly annoying and can often be ignored. At most I can just hide their avatar. But these guys were people using shaders that completely screw up your vision and you have to either quit the game or try and activate safe mode.

The evening was actually quite good, hung out with a friend and chatted with a bunch more people. But I think the fact we were in a small group talking just drew that hostile attention.

We all use assets but then we actually work on the design of the worlds using said assets, I believe that's like...the general thumb rule of game design.

I spend at least a month on basic worlds and a couple of months if it's a bigger project. Also just to educate those who aren't thinking straight : Trying to use a built in asset scene from the package breaks when VRCSDK is present 90% of the time. And even if it DID work, you would still have to spend days or even weeks to make it work ALMOST like the scene since more than half the assets used in said scene is blacklisted by the SDK.

I've worked with a previous engine, Source Engine, thus why I picked up Unity rather quickly.

VRChat also forced me to learn how to create visemes and eye tracking for models from scratch, as well as optimizing it further once brought into Unity.

So if you think I double click to win, you have no idea who I am to begin with. :B

First time you'll be driven to madness, but once you're familiar with the different types of mouths (my ones are animal mouths so I have a crazy variety to deal with) it takes just around 2 hours to do.

The most important shape keys for any model when it comes to visemes are Ah, Oh and Ch

The blender plugin, CATS, then processes the keys and assigns them accordingly for VRChat.

Shrink the desktop window (don't minimise it, that doesn't help). If you're using SteamVR then set SuperSampling to 100% rather than letting it do it automatically.

I run it with Oculus home in the background, with my virtual desktop above my head and it runs fine; as long as you disable custom animations and start hiding shiny avatars when population hits 20+ people in a room

If you're desperate for performance then turning shaders off for everyone except friends will help massively, but can have weird effects on avatars.

There's also secret graphics options for the game. Hold shift when you open it and you can select between VRHigh, VRLow, DesktopLow.
