There’s a dynamic bone limiter, which I use. Blocking very poor avatars just because they attempted to use lots of dynamic balance is pointless to me

So it doesn't have much of a meaning. Trusted users will probably become trustworthy again when the mods start moderating. Because getting to high ranks while breaking rules would become a challenge

@kindred pulsar I should warn you if you do plan to eventually get a headset, that if you get a HTC Vive or a Valve Index, using SteamVR is required for all games. If you get an Oculus, Steam is also required for most good games.

I'm hoping the much better display (resolution, pixel arrangement, etc) is enough to offset that lack of black. The increased comfort should be a big bonus though. Wearing the Vive for 5 hours or more is... a little taxing (especially as it's one of the originals, before the 20% weight reduction).

as someone who used a Rift for over a year now with Spud off, which is reportably has worse black levels than index, and can turn spud on anytime i want, which reportably has better black levels than index... the differences are negligable. blacks still look perfectly black as long as there's something not-black in the scene.

I prefer removable batteries as well, I don't like needing to wait to charge things. If i want rechargable batteries, I'll put them in. At least then I can instantly refill instead of waiting around to charge

@languid beacon Keep in mind the black levels I'm referring to are on the Vive with the pixels still on (to negate the smear issue). Weirdly enough I cannot find any reports anywhere of the Rift CV1s black levels, brightness, etc (other than 1 report that the Vive was 3 x brighter)

bright scenes, or turning spud off, it's silkky black due to it rasing every pixels' brightness to the worst pixel

I find it surprising that your OLED screen could possibly have worse black levels than an LCD. It only needs to keep the pixels one step above off to stop the smear, which shouldn't be bad at all, certainly not "grey" like many are reporting.

You can actually see that on the Vive too in absolute darkness, but it's very faint and doesn't really bother me. I always called it the "starfield".

I think the fact the Vive is painfully bright also makes it seem to have much better contrast levels (because it technically does). It's absurdly bright, like painfully so at times).

3d modeling, unlike 2d drawing, doesn't require artistic tallent. it's 100% technical skill, the kind of skill programmers have. you have this covered, just actually learn blender's annoying UI, and you've got it made

A lot of Blender seems to be down to magically remembering what does what and unmarked keypresses, which... will take a long time to pick up unless you have a great memory.

understanding blender's workflow is important, yes. left click places a cursor, which isn't usually what you want. right click selects things. G is reposition, S is scale, R is rotate, then X Y or Z to force that move along certain axis. then move the mouse or type a distance and hit enter.
