discord isnt fully supported on a standard browser to begin with, but i think crashing the browser is something that the browsers changed that caused the crash or it was discord

@vocal shard you may have ended up in a tiny or invisible/broken avatar (if you are in VR you see everything infinitely far away). This actually breaks raycasting so you can't click anything.

To fix, try pressing ctrl-backslash \ to switch to a default robot avatar . That one is just temporary for that play session so you should switch into a default avatar afterwards.

Usually caused by a rigging / reimport problem in my experience

Did you import it? Might be worth asking in #avatars-2-general but I would suggest going to the model and rig tab and set it to None and then set back to Humanoid.
Caution: you will lose all your dynamic bones, particle systems etc. if you want to keep those, duplicate your avatar, drag the body mesh out or something and break the prefab. Then do your rerigging and then use Pumkin's Tools to transfer stuff back to your rigged avatar

but yeah @heavy ledge if you've got VRC itself on your HDD and the cache on your ssd, it would still be pretty slow, since you're forcing your fast ssd to have to communicate with your hdd

if you had everything on the ssd you might notice improvement

b4 the 2 updates just recently my rift mic was fine.. but after the update it just echoes... for some reason.. i dunno why.. i tried everything from tryin to set the rift as default (like i always have been doing, to like reinstalling the rift, re plugging the rift in another port)

i have acess but vrchat fucks up their game as usual where you cant click menu untill your avatar is loaded, but the avatar i have is the one you get from vrchat when you get too laggy which is their version of the blocked avatar

@pastel dirge If you need to get out of one of an avatar with problems you can press ctrl+` to locally switch to... something, it's a default thing of some sort. You should be able to interact with the menu then. ( when you type that do you mean i press the ctrl button then + button ?

You mentioned owning a CV1, Oculus ASW 2.0 is great for low end devices, but like I said, you might have to downsample alittle bit.

VRAM doesn't matter much in vr, as most games don't really push high quality since the displays aren't really "sharp"

#

Index has a higher res than the standard rift and vive. It might downsample for you out of the box as SteamVR does that, but you can experiment with Hz and sampling.

@lost cobalt I looked up alittle and as far as I can see, a lot of people supersample their 1060s on Vive and Rift to 1.4 and 1.5, which is pushing over 4million pixels. I think the 1060 will suffice. Not sure about it pushing 120Hz, but the Index is backwards compatible, so you can toggle 90Hz.

It depends on the game as well ofc, but it's always good to start with base 1.0 and work your way down till your performance is good, as well as your clarity on screen.

Even if you downsample to Rift quality resolution, you're still getting the benefit of having full RGB and higher native res, which means higher pixel density, so it'll still look good.

Yeah, and like I said, I've know people that used a 970 to play VR, obvs not perfect, but it worked fine, a 1060 is a bit more powerful and more efficient than that, so in terms of streaming things between the gpu, such as how much can it push per sec, as well as how fast can it do it, that's a good benefit as well.

Well. all loading times are extremely slow. game pops up with "VRchat not responding" and then next thing "Hi this is an announcement" and then a buncha spam lettering with a loading bar thats just 0.00gb or whatever thats underneath.

why not use a vpn: if you are diagnosing any issue, you want as few variables as possible

because the "online vandal" could literally not be further from the truth

most of that caste are divided into two sects, essentially white and black hats

black hats cause damage for personal gain, or are hired by some other seedy entity in the underworld to cause said damage, often for hefty sums of cash

and the reason they're hired is not because they're vandals, but people that know what the hell they're doing

#

a vandal won't be using an ion cannon from space to fuck up the white house, nor will they be using a cannon to blow up a fuel refinery

#

white hats are the opposite in intention; they search for issues and vulnerabilities in order to let the software vendor know about it; they're the good side of the moral coin

#

the bad side, when searching for things like these, don't let vendors know (for which the only real motivation is bug bounties), but instead sell information on the black market

#

this information, for serious enoguh zero days (vulnerabilities the vendor is unaware of) can reach bidding prices of millions of dollars, compared to bug bounties by big companies that rarely get into the six figures

as for the rooms analogy: this is not entirely correct; in fact, if you do get in via a port, what you usually also have access to is a shell, which means these walls, in essence, don't exist; however there are parts of that whole building which are locked behind security measures, and those can be bypassed as well, to escalate your privileges in the building

which then, obviously, allows you access to these "secure" parts

#

however, by default, essentially every port that's opened by a program or service is open; a firewall is merely a lock on these doors, mostly there to alret you of access like a stranger knocking at the door

the firewall might identify them somewhat, and based on where it's from and whether you're expecting that specific stranger, you can either let them in or turn them away

Working on a fully custom avatar (made from ground up in blender) and everything works upon import into VRchat except the eyes. The problem is if I set up the eyes to work for me locally with a mirror they don't work for others (the eyes will be facing the wrong direction).

Look how the mobo goes in the case
Look for the inside/outside and press the shield
Look at the size of the mobo for the screws, slowly push the mobo into place within the IO shield and thats it

Even got my sister to build one without any guidance really
Its not that hard to get your IO shield, compare it to your mobo and see how it should fit
Check in the case how it should fit and then push it in

On the IO shield, each port has these "teeth" jutting out that essentially blocks the ports from going through the shield. They're meant for grounding or some shit

Its not smart to do but your not supposed to short the stuff you slap into your mobo anyway
And depending what port in the mobo we talk about its naturally grounded there

Slight force was never enough lol, I've literally had to take pliers and bend the teeth away because you couldn't push the ports through

That's how it was on my build, and it was similar for both of my friends'. The teeth sooner stab into the ports than do what I guess they're supposed to, which is surround them

I have a small question, ^^'
So I created an account to save a name for another account (I had to wait the 3 month delay to rename because of a misspelling)
so now that this 3 month delay is finished I I changed the name on the other account to free the name I wanted. but apparently the account name is still considered as registered regardless of the fact that I changed it.
So alright let just delete it, but it also turn out that you can't delete accounts.. So what could I do ? ^^'

The controllers will have 2 modes. One that is just full finger tracking, and one that can trigger animations with gestures. It toggles by a button

@plush osprey I obviously didn't knew about the fact that we couldn't delete account or first name would be locked, but the base idea was just to protect a specific nickname on another account while the rename timer pass on the main account so that in theory I can guarantee this specific nickname for the main account.
