I’m less worried about IPD clarity and more worried about unmoving lenses not letting me get in both len’s sweet spots at the same time. That’s what I hated with DK2 and made me hate VR. CV1 was a blessing

DK2 wasn't that great. But yeah. Just when you have reviewers who experience it with low and very high IPD say it was comfortable even outside the rated IPD range. One with high IPD said the fixed lenes of the GO have him a headache almost instantly, bit the Rift S he didn't even notice any eye strain. The new lenses are supposed to fix most of those issues.

How many FPS are you getting? Above 25 should not be painful to play with. Below that and you will need to figure out what's lagging you so much.
VRChat doesn't have advanced settings like that, it should be in the Oculus stuff. I don't have it so I'm not sure where all the advanced settings are

For GPU, the minimum is around a 970. For CPU, you will want at least a i5 running 3Ghz or more. Also 8gb ram or more is recommended

As a temp solution, change VRChat graphics setting to VRLow, it should run better if the issue is your GPU. It won't look much different either, so it's generally worth it. Start yo VRChat while holding CTRL or Shift (I forgot which) and the settings box will appear

If the VR runs in a virtual monitor, be careful not to move anything from your main monitor and into that virtual monitor. I've heard it can cause lag

If your bottleneck is the CPU (which I doubt) then you can disable dynamic bones in the VRChat safety settings, it should help a bit in larger instances.
Are you sure that VRChat is launching on your GPU by the way? If you have integrated graphics in your CPU, it might be launching on that

Speed of the CPU isn't the only factor. Mine runs at 4.6ghz due to overclocking, but is seven years old and thus slower than a modern one running at a far slower clock speed.

Also, unless you know that the laptop is a VR compatible one, the vast majority of laptops (even gaming ones) have their external ports connected to the integrated graphics rather than to the GPU.

VRChat requires good specs in VR mode, as much as modern games. But try disabling integrated graphics for now, should be in bios settings or nvidia control panel (or the AMD version of that)

VR-Chat is also exceptionally CPU heavy compared to most games. For graphics I'm only running a GTX960, and it's almost never maxed out. Is always the CPU that bottlenecks first for me.

There's a few rare shaders or fancy effects that can tax a graphics card, as can unreasonably high poly counts and such, but those are always the exception rather than the norm.

But yeah, avatars that poor are rare, and if you're alone in a world you should always get 90FPS, maybe 45 if there's a mirror

Yeah, material count isn't the worst offender for performance, but it's also one of the easiest to fix.
Is absolutely no reason to ever have more than 10, even if doing only limited lazy/cautious atlasing.

I have more, but pressing "Atlas" gives me an error. It's a special avatar done primarely in Blender Cycles.
And every time I export it to Unity, I have to re-rig everything, including the finger joints

Weird. Never had that particular error before. Although I have had issues with flat shaded models that don't use actual textures.
Those never material combine correctly, and need UV work to fix. Which I've only done once and I hated it. xD
