To put this plainly, I'm not as lucky as many of you with more better or stable connections since I live in the middle of nowhere.
So pre-patch my average connection without loading any avatars was always 150-300.
If i had to load someone it goes to like 600, if i load 15 people in a que its 1500+. Usually why i only show friends avatars now.

I've always had issues loading avatars even way back in 2017 when my ms was somehow magically 50-100.
It's mostly due to me having only 5 download and 1 upload as my internet speeds with no other options available here.

Can anyone else confirm that they broke the saftey setting for avatar audio disable? at least they did for "Friends".... for me. I have avatar audio disabled on all safety tabs, yet all of my friends' (yellow plate) avatar audio goes through. I have not tested with non-friends.

Also, the networked IK seems to 'downgrade' to run at a lower tick rate the longer you are in a room. If you've been in a room for many hours it looks visibly laggy and tick rate seems to be like somewhere between 5 and 10... is this a "feature" or a bug?

The networking ik is meant to make the weight on the cpu MUCH less

instead of calculating every persons movement locally, every single persons, each person instead calculates their own and its shared over the network

makes it lighter on the system but heavier on the network

unfortunately, networked IK is probably here to stay becuase the Quest is not gonna have enough computational power to calculate all those IKs itself. Honestly they should just transmit networked IK always but only use networked IK on the quest and compute locally like they did before on PC

Another thing I've noticed is the network ik isnt accurate. Let's say you fingerpoint at someone and that person touches your finger with their finger. It's not touching on your end, its several inches off

Before, everyone calculated a player's movements on their own computer. This was really taxing on the CPU. Now, everyone does the calculation of their own movement and then sends that data over the network to everyone else.

The data has been compressed a ton, so there's minimal impact on network performance, but a huge increase in CPU performance.

In theory, the new IK should perform much better, and performance wise it does, but there are troubles with accuracy at the moment considering how much has been changed. Expect a lot of minor changes to it over time
