The only thing about VR that was slightly under my expectations was the image resolution, but that's something that will have no trouble improving over time. From what I've heard headsets on the level of the Vive-Pro and up have already virtually removed the "screen door effect", so no complaints there.

Rez really is something else. The whole concept of the game is based around synesthesia, a condition some people have where some of their senses get all tangled up so they wind up seeing sound in colour, tasting shapes and hearing smells, and more.

Yeah, it renders the image at a higher resolution, then scales it down to the actual display resolution and that improves image quality.
And you'll definitely want a 1080 to supersample on a vive pro or HMD with similar resolution

SteamVR Reprojection is the same as Oculus' ATW, which can synthesize frames for rotational head movment, whereas ASW can do that for spatial movement.

The game might use "full body IK" (as opposed to fb biped ik) for a single hip tracker, but I'm not sure if that is true.

Except they try to keep your feet in line with the hips rather than your entire body
