But model and avatar work is often more than just downloading the model so I get it

Even though I don't make any of my models, I still spend time optimizing them for VRC and setting up the bones/visemes etc

Then in Unity, I spend time making custom animations, setting up particle systems

An avatar can easily get many hours of work put into it, even if the model isn't made by you.
