You might be mixing a 32bit python installation with a 64bit version of blender, or the other way around.

check the installer .exe's you downloaded. They should tell you which arch they are.
32 bit usually has either 32, or x86 in the name.
64 bit would have 64, x86_64 or sometimes AMD64.
