I want to give priority and specify which CPU cores used for SteamVR but I can't find the SteamVR process

Here's some heads up about vr chat, there is a lot of teamers and violent words people will say to you and there's some racists people, sexest men and all of the above, but their are some nice people and if your shy like me or a mute, there's a chat box, it's basically typing your words instead of saying it. If you get sick take a break until you feel fine again then give it another crack, after a while you'll get "VR legs" essentially like your sea legs

personally after having and using VR for 5+ years I still get instantly sick when I try to drive a go-kart or any sort of vehicle tho, cuz my ears don't get the movement

I don't know if I'll ever be able to drive without something zapping my ears to simulate and that's future shit xD

I play VRChat with Proton 9.0-2 with the "nvidia-driver-535" on Linux Mint 22.
It works with the index but I wish I could also play with my Pimax Crystal, but I cant run the windows 10/11 version of "Pimax Play" with Wine...

I have a question for any modeling-savvy people.
Is there a clear, point of singularity where you can judge if an object is more performant with its details represented with higher polygon count vs. more detailed material textures?
For example, in a project, I've got some gemstones. They're fairly simple meshes, each with 18 vertices, and with a flat no-texture material applied. But it occurred to me that I could instead have a single flat quad with an image of a gemstone, and a normal map to give it the illusion of depth.
However, when I thought about it, I figured surely, a mere 18 vertices would take up less system resources than a couple entire image files, even ones with fairly low resolution.
Is there some convenient magic "X polygons = Y pixels" formula that'll tell me how I should be modeling things in the future for optimum performance?
I assume not. That would be too easy.
A mediocre-credibility source told me that texture processing happens mostly in RAM while mesh processing happens mostly in the GPU. If that's true, then I'm sure the answer to my question is "it depends", but any sort of "best practices" or "common pitfalls" advice would help.

Perhaps make like 10000 of those gems and check how much that cost, with both variants.

You should be able to develop a good sense for these things by testing them!

The ABT plugin's vision feature only works for items that can be picked up, but it doesn't show the location of buttons that can only be triggered by clicking. I'm having a weird issue with physbone grabbing. I can't see remote players grabbing physbones, and remote players can't see me grabbing physbones.

Physbones being pushed around by colliders work as expected.

It's like grabbing isn't being networked at all.

If it happens again check if your shield settings are preventing shaders from being loaded. I've had the same thing happen to me before and that was the issue. Hopefully it's as easy as showing the avatar or just changing your shield settings

blocks go both ways, so if they have you blocked then you won't see them. Ask someone else to relay info back/forth if you need them to unblock you

Make a mental note of platform they're on. (If the nameplate says android they're 95% on quest, it's possible they're on an actual android phone or a pico but I've seen that happen maybe a single digit number of times, so you can assume quest)

I am looking for information about how audio sources "glitch out" -- typically in large instances. Notably:

• What causes distant audio to rapidly cut in and out
• What causes avatar audio to completely break in some worlds
  • I presume this is becaues there are too many audio sources in the world already
• What causes distant audio to briefly play at full volume before (correctly) going silent
  • I observed this in a world with just a few other friends. The sounds of doors opening could be (briefly) heard from anywhere, like the spatial audio system needed a moment to kick in and adjust the volume

I've had trouble finding much of anything concrete on google.

Like I know one view is rendered slightly to the shifted. but why can’t you like render the view at a widened fov, say 19:9 (or something idk) then display 2 sections of that render but have them cropped to a vr resolution and offset to give the stereoscopic view?

To put it simple, we have 2 eyes, so rendering things with 1 camera slightly tilted will make it look weird and distorted, so there has to be 2 cameras to render vr.

If you want to see through two eyes - you render for two eyes!

Now of course you can render only one - though that'll be like looking through a phone screen. It's 2D.

so as it turns out, I may just be terminally stupid.
Turns out that unity gives you an option to switch between ascii and binary...I went binary and didn't have to use the bloody autodesk tool to turn to binary. And now, the model looks like the one in the actual base file ;u; also apparently the menus are missing so you just need to hit N in the viewer to open up CATS for whatever reason. Thank you tho!

The first gen is one of the best. The NB I would personally say is the best model you can buy. The NC was so unnecessarily heavy for what it was. It's still handled pretty decently tho.
The NB had the most power and had the exact same chassis as the na just a bit lower. With beefier suspension parts. About 99% of all NA and NB parts are interchangeable. I was going to swap over to NB suspension at one point

Everybody says LS this and LS that. It's just a glorified truck motor at the end of the day. I built performance cars for a living at one point.
If I did something absolutely ridiculous it would be coyote. Or 302. But I went with an Sr because there's a ridiculous amount of aftermarket support for that platform. Sr swaps have already been done. So I can get the proper amounts and everything for it. And they are pretty dang reliable. As most drifters have beaten those engines to hell and have seen how far you can go

My NA loved the weather down here for whatever reason lol so both the NA and NB having the B6-ZE/ME and the B8-ME/ZE platforms they like to run really really hot naturally. Luckily the cooling system was upgraded for my car with a full aluminum radiator instead of the old plastic heat soaking one that was originally on the car. As well as a little bit better piping and a coolant reroute.
So I never really had a problem with it

My car was so light. Granted it came 2100 lb from the factory. I had done some ridiculous weight reduction to where I probably weighed about 2k flat with me in it. That every time I would pass an 18-wheeler on the highway. I would feel the car trying to get sucked in towards the truck because it was so light lol. It was terrifying but so fun to drive.
