Hello!

Some iOS-only changes, targeting 2024.2.3 -- if you are not in the iOS beta, these do not apply to you!

Changes & Fixes

  • Fixed a bug causing TextMeshPro text to appear black.
  • Fixed an issue with avatars and world geometry clipping through the Main Menu and Quick Menu. (Note: this seems to still be broken!)
  • You'll no longer get flashbanged by a white screen when first launching the app.
  • Fixed an issue where the wrong profile icon would show in some places.
  • Fixed issue that would erroneously display the login prompt when switching tabs on app launch.

Big one today!

This iOS patch brings the platform up to date with 2024.3.2, which improves stability and makes startup significantly faster.

  • Worlds now show as iOS-compatible only if the creator has uploaded an iOS version. You can still visit Android-only worlds on iOS in "compatibility mode", as before.
  • Added a first pass at transparency support when you’re visiting Android worlds that haven’t been ported to iOS.
  • When creating a world instance from the native UI, the last region you selected will be remembered and highlighted by default.
  • iOS 18's Game Mode is now supported.
  • Fixed an issue causing avatars and world geometry to clip through the Quick Menu / Main Menu.
  • Fixed an issue causing mirrors to appear with broken shaders in some worlds.
  • Fixed an issue where iOS players would see other iOS players' nameplates as "Quest".
  • Fixed an issue causing the “Logging” toggle in the Main Menu to be missing.

This update brings all the updates from 2024.4.2! Here's what's new for iOS.

A Small Update on Compatibility:

From the beginning of our iOS testing process, we've outlined that VRChat can't really function on less than 6GB of RAM. Our goal has always been to deliver a smooth, consistent level of performance to iOS users, and in order to do that, we've had to set that limit.

However, the VRChat app isn't just used to "get into" VRChat -- people use it for the sake of seeing when their friends are online, receiving notifications for groups they're part of, or for just looking to see what's trending at any given time.

For that reason, we're going to allow folks to use the app even if they have a device that we don't technically support. However, if you are on an unsupported device, you will not be able to travel to any worlds.

If you have a device that is on our supported device list (or simply have one that has 6GB of RAM or greater) then you will notice no change! It's worth noting, though, that some folks in the iOS beta are on devices that are unsupported. If you are one of them, you will no longer be able to access worlds on your device -- but you will still be able to access the other features of the app.

Changes & Fixes

  • Improved video player support. There is a known issue causing missing audio for HLS streams.
  • Updated UI in a few places to match Android.
  • The 120 FPS cap in the graphics settings now works correctly on ProMotion-equipped devices. Please check this setting - you may want to reduce it down to 60 to avoid draining battery too quickly!
  • Fixed a bug causing the microphone mode to switch from "Toggle" to "Push to Talk" when you leave the app and return.
  • Reduced judder when rotating the camera very slowly.

(Apologies for the delay in posting notes -- I was streaming!)

We just pushed an update for VRChat on iOS!

This update brings all the changes from 2025.1.2! Here's what's new for iOS.

Changes & Fixes

  • Similar to worlds, we now load and use the Android version of an avatar if an iOS version doesn't exist. As always, if you see issues, please let us know on our Feedback forum!
  • Worlds can now be favorited from the native UI.
  • Photos taken with the camera will now be saved to the Photos app.
  • Added support for the new "Share Log File" and "Share All Log Files" buttons in the Debug section of the main menu.
  • Mipmap streaming has been enabled.
    • This will dynamically load lower-resolution textures for Avatars and Worlds into VRAM as needed, meaning much more can be loaded before you start running into issues (stuttering, avatars failing to load, and hard crashes).
    • This budget is dynamically updated periodically based on your device's available memory, which should considerably reduce crashes and 'kicked to home' events.
  • Fixed placement of the back button when using a right-to-left language.
  • Fixed an issue causing the Microphone Behavior setting to change unexpectedly when disconnecting headphones.

2025.3.1p1 iOS is out!

This update brings all the changes from 2025.3.1p1! Here's what's new for iOS.

Changes!

  • Updated app icon and name.
  • The “beta” watermark has been removed.
  • Added ability to request (if the group allows) and accept invites to invite-only groups in companion UI.
  • Overhauled the social tab to match Android.
  • You can now (pretend to) buy VRC+ and credits from the companion UI.
    • Purchases from TestFlight apps are simulated and don't cost real money, so they don't actually do anything to your account yet. They'll work properly when we release on the App Store!
  • Added account deletion to the companion UI's Settings menu.
  • Google sign-in has been temporarily disabled.
  • Notification support has been temporarily disabled. We're working on full support!

Fixes!

  • Fixed bug where logging out could cause the two-factor authentication or Terms of Service screen(s) to appear.
  • Fixed error popup when opening the detail screen for a world while not logged in.
  • Fixed infinite spinner on Play button when the client is too out of date to enter worlds. A prompt asking you to update the app will display instead.
  • Leaving the app while the two-factor authentication screen is open no longer causes a “Missing Credentials” error when submitting the code.
  • Fixed bug where the “Join Group” button would appear in the companion UI for closed and invite-only groups.
  • Fixed view obstruction caused by “dark mode” shaders when loading an Android world on iOS.
  • Fixed a few bugs that caused spontaneous crashes.
