Where do you get it?

Google Play store! Here's the link. Click on this on your mobile device.

After opting into testing, it can take 15-30 minutes for your permission to be granted. After that time, you can use the install link again to install the app!

What are the minimum requirements?

6GB of RAM and Android 10. Any recent mid-range phone should be fine.

If your phone does not meet these requirement, you may be told that you aren't eligible to install the app.

While we’ve been able to get it to run smoothly on various devices so far, your particular phone might have a hardware quirk that we haven’t anticipated. Finding those landmines is what a beta is for, after all!

How Well Does it Run?

Very well!

In our tests, the Android client performs well across various devices. We’d expect it to run at least as well as the Quest version, and better in most cases.

Remember, on a phone, you could be multitasking between several different apps. If you’re encountering frame drops, we encourage you to try closing apps running in the background to see if it improves performance.

Apps that you've given permission to run constantly in the background may also cause slowdowns.

Does the Mobile App Work On a Cell Connection?

Yes! Provided you have a good signal, VRChat should work just fine.

Switching between cell service and WiFi can be tricky, and usually results in being disconnected and getting a new login prompt. We’ll work on that, though.

What Content is Visible?

VRChat for Android uses the assets that people have uploaded for Quest. We're now calling these assets "Android" assets.

vrcPerfVeryPoor You cannot use, wear, or see Very Poor avatars on Android Mobile. vrcPerfVeryPoor This is an intentional change. You cannot bypass this limitation.

Many worlds may have controls designed for VR usage, so you may run into issues with advanced controls.

World authors, we're working on making it easier for you to create control schemes that work across platforms.

Will Mobile Users Be Labeled Differently?

No, both mobile and Quest users are labeled as "Android". This is meant to let you know what version of content a person is seeing.

Can You Disable Push Notifications?

Of course, you can turn them off via either our settings or Android's notification settings.

If you think they're annoying or don't want to use them for some reason, please send us some feedback on how we can improve.

We've found that the notifications are really useful, though -- it's a really cool experience seeing VRChat Group notifications for events or friend requests pop up on your phone!

When Will the Mobile App Come Out of Beta?

We don’t know! VRChat was developed as a "VR-first" application originally, so we have a lot of work to do to make it more accessible to phone users.

What About iOS?

We're working on iOS! Check out #ios-info for more info.

Jan 10 2025 Update:

We are still testing Very Poor Avatar support on Android. This may not be available for all devices.

You may see it available in some instances and then it will go away during the test. We are tweaking a few things to get the performance just right.

Give us a few weeks and we'll share more updates!
