odd basalt
#

So how do I run a source code so it runs the game? Back to my initial question

cobalt seal
#

What's a source code

finite hollow
whole flame
#

unemployed software dev gang 🥲

odd basalt
#

I am not a programmer

odd basalt
#

you all probably have heard about gta 6 leak, so I downloaded the source code and I want to run it and test the game

finite hollow
odd basalt
#

IDE?

#

is that a compiler?

finite hollow
#

No that's a programm to code in. Python doesn't need to be compiled to be able to run

odd basalt
#

do you think it will run as a game?

#

its like 10k+ lines of code

finite hollow
#

Yes it will

#

The performance depends on your pc

#

If you want an .exe file you can use py2exe

#

But it's not necessarily needed

odd basalt
#

some guy ran it on gtx 1080

#

I think my gtx1070ti should be fine

#

ok, time to blackmail rockstar and raise some money

finite hollow
#

Wait what

odd basalt
#

Anyways I don't think i will be able to run it

#

Without assets

tender crow
#

Sus

odd basalt
#

Or engine or whatever is it

#

I want to run the game like this

#

Want to test it out, see the map

#

It was run on ps4 dev kit if i am not mistaken

finite hollow
#

Very unlikely it'll run yes

#

Also very unlikely gta6 is only 10k lines of code and written in python

#

Since gta5 was coded in c/c++

odd basalt
#

If it is early build then it can be

#

Yes I was aware that previous games were on C++, that's why was little bit suspicious

tender crow
#

Or maybe you can just wait until they release the gamechaewon

odd basalt
#

2 years is too much

#

I was 13 when gta 5 came out

tender crow
#

Understandable

warm egret
#

10k lines of code is nothing, I haven't seen the leak but highly doubt it is easily compilable if it is even complete

odd basalt
#

But I saved them

warm egret
#

just don't go around downloading shit online since people will start sharing malicious stuff for things like this lol

odd basalt
#

Ye, true true

warm egret
#

not really that useful to have unless you are interested in actually reading it

odd basalt
#

It is this guy

#

But the post is deleted

#

Take 2 are really focused on him rn. Deleted all of his accounts, Even telegram

silver bone
#

the testing build is what you'll want. most likely comes with the .exe file

viscid herald
#

Haha Python goes brrrrrrr

#

Is this where we talk about how bad Nvidia as a company is?

odd basalt
#

Bad in terms of failing to supply us with gpus or what?

#

We should understand that it was global crisis due to restrictions on trade that caused shortage of chips

odd basalt
viscid herald
odd basalt
#

The leak wasn't full, hacker is planning to leak the rest if R* doesn't pay him 100K bucks

viscid herald
#

There's not really a shortage anymore, more of the opposite

odd basalt
odd basalt
#

Ethereum update

#

Now mining on gpus not effective anymore

#

But still GPUs aren't the recommended price in our market

#

Rtx 3060 starting at 525

viscid herald
#

Yes, but new gen from AMD and Nvidia coming

#

So, silly to buy now

#

Or if you're crazy, Intel.

odd basalt
#

Well i don't know what the price are gonna be

#

I am running gtx1070ti

#

Any update will be huge for me

viscid herald
#

I got a 1660 super 2 years ago, cus I thought I can just sell this when I get my 30 series card

#

Oh how naive I was

odd basalt
#

F for those who bought 30 series with inflation prices

#

Yet no ps5 in my country after 2 years since release

viscid herald
#

I could have bought one

#

but ehhhhh

#

I had to change my phone plan then

odd basalt
#

I will see how my gpu will perform in new Cod

#

if it's fine I am fine

viscid herald
#

It prolly will be

#

cod not too demanding of a game

odd basalt
#

thanks to sony

#

they release it on past gen every year, it decreases the demand

warm egret
#

ill trade you my 970 mr orange

odd basalt
#

970?

#

damn it came out in 2014 isn't it?

#

you definitely need to update your hardware

#

get 3070

#

Rockstar responded

tender crow
#

Look how sad they are

odd basalt
#

Poor Rockstar

#

Making people buy bullshark cards for real money for the last 9 years must have been tough

#

But tbh, I better have not seen the leaks. The WOW effect is gone after you know pretty much everything about it

#

It's like...

#

Finding the Christmas gifts 1 day before the Christmas

#

"we will update everyone again soon" does it mean we will see official teaser trailer?

fervent hazel
#

the hype effect turned out to be negative

odd basalt
#

gta 5 trailer came out in 2011, 2 years before actual release. So I guess we have at least 2 or more years to wait

#

plus it won't release on pcs at first. It is always consoles first and pc later

fervent hazel
odd basalt
#

Rockstar now won't allow its employees to work remotely

#

so its one of the factors that further delays, yeah

#

I also don't believe hacker was alone. He definitely had a team or at least someone who helped him

#

it may be group hackers

Depends on what you are trying to do

The closest I am to using "Windows Server" right now is IIS and Hyper-V in my Windows 11 system

Although I don't really use Hyper-V; I run VMware and VirtualBox with the Hyper-V visor

#

But yeah, Windows Server works for a lot of stuff such as mail management, datacenters, network deployment and servicing, et cetera

Although even then it wouldn't be recommended to use it as a daily driver over regular Windows 10/11

arctic sun
#

Depends on how much you wanna learn about setting up and maintaining a network for your startup

viscid herald
#

Tried to find a cisco server

#

Only for the emoji ofc

#

Selection was bad

viscid herald
#

The material itself is dull

warm egret
#

is it just like memorizing a bunch of shit

viscid herald
#

Lab stuff is decent

#

I mean, sorta.

#

Some of the stuff you do need to know to do networking.

warm egret
viscid herald
#

So it isn't just memorize to pass the tests

warm egret
#

nice

#

too bad my networking class in uni was garbo and mostly memorizing

viscid herald
#

Binary n stuff, you need to be network guru to actually need that.

#

Also, IPv6 solves IPv4 stuff.

#

So...

#

The world just need to chop chop

#

It was only finalized in 1995

warm egret
#

speedy migration

arctic sun
viscid herald
#

Yea....

#

There's ISP's out there that don't support it.

#

"we don't need to"

#

But yea, you sorta do now.

arctic sun
#

Well, my IP as retrieved from one of those "what is my ip" sites is IPv4

viscid herald
#

I'm only at the "Intro to networks" part

#

But with the amount of phones, and now smartwatches that needs an ip

#

We getting closer to actually running out

#

Then there's that whole address space of ipv4 that's unused

warm egret
viscid herald
#

But nah, let's not use that

arctic sun
#

"Because it’s for internal IANA use" or something

warm egret
#

prob not a big enough motivator to update to ipv6 when most things behind nat

viscid herald
#

It was for research

#

N stuff

viscid herald
#

Subnetting also piece of cake

warm egret
#

it hasn't broken catastrophically yet so no need to update!

viscid herald
#

Just like UNIX time hasn't stopped working

warm egret
viscid herald
#

No need to switch away

warm egret
#

fix it after it breaks yes

viscid herald
#

Just like the guy screaming about y2K for many years

#

Until they decided, okay it's almost time, let's start working on it

arctic sun
#

Ah yes, the Y2K phenomenon. Everyone was like "holy sh- the world is ending" about it

viscid herald
#

It didn't end, cus they fixed it.

#

It wasn't cus nothing was gonna happen

#

It was gonna happen

arctic sun
#

I mean, yes, running non-Y2K-patched software that has issues with that year onward isn’t really right to do

viscid herald
#

There's some systems that calculates time based on a date in the future.

#

So, when that date hits, it will no longer work.

arctic sun
#

Yep, Unix’s 2038 bug

viscid herald
#

Nah, this isn't Unix time

#

This is different one

#

Unix time counts up from 1970

#

Computers are silly

arctic sun
#

Ah yes, all those videos where people set their clocks to 12/31/2999 and right as it turns 3000 shit hits the fan

arctic sun
#

Alright, a change of topic I was attempting to do.

#

So, about my banner. Yep, that thing above is Office 97’s Photo Editor on Windows NT 3.51, the last version of NT that had Program Manager as its shell; I manually colored the Control and Minimize/Maximize buttons on Paint as they otherwise cannot have their colors changed at all unlike in Windows 95 onward. As for the Blackpink picture, it’s been zoomed out to the Discord-recommended banner width in Paint and the Photo Editor menu was pasted on top. I could’ve kept the actual PhotoEd title bar (which also said BORNPINK.BMP) but it would block Lisa’s face behind my pfp

viscid herald
#

Are you saying you're on an old windows system?

arctic sun
#

I use VirtualBox and VMware

#

I’m typing this on freaking Windows 11 22H2 on the Electron Discord client, not on a kernel-extended Windows 2000 with the last-XP-supported version of Chrome

viscid herald
#

Freaking

#

Even using the update name

#

damn

#

That's cutting Edge

arctic sun
#

EdgeCanary indeed

viscid herald
#

Why virtualbox and vmware?

arctic sun
#

"y u no hyperv"?
I am technically using Hyper-V as VBox and VMware are able to work even with Windows’s hypervisor enabled since at least 2018/19 Windows 10 releases
"y u no parallels?"
Parallels Desktop is only available for Macs
"y u no wsa or wsl?"
I prefer full virtualization instead of a way to run Linux apps from a Windows command shell. Yes, it’s intuitive and it’s cool, but I don’t prefer it much

viscid herald
#

But, why both?

#

You only need one

arctic sun
#

In my computer’s specs pre-Vista Windows runs faster on VBox, yet VMware runs Vista and later versions a bit faster than VBox, and I like playing with both sides of the aisle so I use both

viscid herald

fair play

#

But, have you ever done a network in packet tracer, and everything just worked the first time?

#

Nothing to fix

viscid herald
#

Then you go to real equipment, and it also works!

#

Amazing

warm egret
#

impossible

viscid herald
#

I know right???

viscid herald
#

So, found big security hole in my soundbar, BT is always on.

#

When my neighbour connected to it

#

Cus, no iPhones here

warm egret
#

viscid herald
#

Probably

viscid herald
#

Haha Ubuntu

warm egret

viscid herald

They switched back to Unity

warm egret

discusting

viscid herald
#

It was funny when they switched away

#

From their own thing

#

Back to GNOME

#

I should just go ARCH

#

For the heck oof it

arctic sun
#

I also saw the old Ubuntu logo... maybe they've gone back to it after everyone complained about the logo used in 22.04

#

Sadly Microsoft will never go back to the previous Windows logo which was not the Microsoft logo but blue

viscid herald
#

But, 22.10 has it

arctic sun
#

22.04 had GNOME

arctic sun
viscid herald
#

But, I already have ubuntu

#

Why would I debian?

#

Found out my laptop had another sata slot

#

So popped in old ssd

arctic sun
#

Excellent

viscid herald
#

Next up I should revive my old netbook

arctic sun
#

You must be confusing vanilla Ubuntu with https://ubuntuunity.org

viscid herald
#

Oh

#

I guess Unity fully left canocical then

arctic sun
viscid herald
#

Maybe I should give manjaro a go

viscid herald
#

Good meme

warm egret

viscid herald
#

That makes sense then

#

No web interface though?

warm egret
#

#

I do use proxmox web ui for my home server ajenniechew

viscid herald
#

You a proxmox guy

#

I see

warm egret
#

just for a small thing, tbh not really necessary cause all im really doing is running a vm that runs docker containers lol

viscid herald
#

But, Proxmox can run docker containers

#

You silly goose

arctic sun
#

FYI he’s a cat p_anirun

viscid herald
#

He is Mr Cat

warm egret

#

I have a question

#

is windows 11 consistent?

#

is it worth updating from 10 to 11. I heard some games may run inconsistently on 11

finite hollow
#

Never had any problems with 11

#

I like it a lot actually

odd basalt
#

What about its ram usage

finite hollow
#

uses the same amount as windows 10

Which language better for career Java or c++?

warm egret
#

both are fine, just stick to one since most companies don't really make specific languages a requirement, if you become proficient in one of those you should be able to pick up more easily

#

c++ would teach you more but not really fun to use

thorny edge
#

@warm egret okay

warm egret

almost a yr since last message

desert jungle

polar prawn

this is why i pursue computer engineering instead :3

warm egret
#

BetterJennieKek i kinda feel like I should have done computer engineering too which was my original plan but I didn't get into the engineering department in my uni

desert jungle
warm egret

just normie high level knowledge

desert jungle
warm egret
#

i guess just 2 technically as part of the requirements, but they were the intro courses so just things like binary, asm, logic gates and basic logic circuits

polar prawn
desert jungle
#

ngl i hate having to calculate logic gates/circuits by hand

#

i still have to look at a chart every time 😭
