I don't know if there will be this in the game, but I think a prison mechanic would be interesting. By committing a small crime, instead of being killed by police officers, you could go to prison. And to get out of this, there could be a few ways, such as: Paying bail, running away, waiting for the sentence, etc...

Similar to how in Skyrim the guards first try and arrest you, then if you refuse or take too long they’ll go their usual way of attacking? That seems like it’s the idea.

how would they determine when to use lethal force?

If they came up and talked to you, then if you refused or cancelled the talk, or additionally I’d think if you did a big enough crime they wouldn’t stop to ask you questions. But that’s just my thoughts. Not theirs.

Good idea btw

Just realized that maybe hostages could be a thing

#

But when is a crime big enough that they utilize lethal force?

if the NPC's could use taser guns (it'd be annoying for us and somewhat useless unless in short range) then arresting after doing any one of those things makes sense. idk how i'd feel about it. i just wonder how long the sentence of murder would take in IRL time. idk if i'd want to come home from work, hop on just to get arrested and sit there for 15 minutes doing nothing.

#

i feel like any crime that involves murder, violent attacking, stealing a weapon, breaking and entering, or excessive stealing would authorize the officers to go for lethal strategies.

Well, it could be based on a crime rating. each illegal thing you do adds to this rating. Could be that until it gets to a certain level, they don't even bother with you (unless they saw the crime). At a certain number, they will then approach you and ask you to pay a fine. Higher up they stop you and take you to prison (if you don't resist). Higher still they try to stun you, without killing you. Then above that, they use lethal force. Sounds a bit like the crime rating in GTA, but I like it.

#

Also, each time you resist you gain crime rating. Not sure how to bring it down other than paying fines/doing time... maybe basic community service stuff, like cleaning up trash, taking a criminal bounty, though I would make this a really low shift in crime rating, especially CS stuff. Would have to work out a bit of the balance on this to make it fair but fun.

Me when they add age system just to make it to where certain aged characters can’t drink legally

They could also have it be hard to escape the prison, and you would be having to craft your escape tools (escapists reference)

The Escapists was a great game. Loved how they gave different ways to make your break, though the upper levels seems too much of a grind... I guess thats what prison is... 😉
But I'd like that. Work an achievement for jail breaker. Though not sure if that would be too much of a mini-game within the game itself. I'd love to see that still...

They could also just do what dude sim did

#

Where when you went to jail time went by super fast

That would only work with single player. We have to take into account the possibility of multiplayer.
