Recently seen something that could work for this server too to counter the scam bots. Essentially there's a honeypot channel with a single pinned message letting users know that if they send a message there they will be instantly banned. The majority of users that aren't bots will heed that warning, leaving scam bots that post in many channels to essentially filter themselves out
#Possible counter to the bot problem

I've seen this, too. Might try it to see how it goes. I have no idea how effective it is, though.
I imagine it works fairly effectively, every time I click into that server it shows unread messages in the honeypot channel, and I've never seen a scam bot in there. Granted i'm not that active and it's not necessarily bots posting in there, but it seems to be working somewhat effectively.
Now I'm sure the bot makers will eventually grow wise to it and bypass it, but seems like it could be a quick thing to implement that would, at the very least, lessen the amount of spam hopefully.
If anyones interested in how the scam works. They all seem to be about the same lately. If not Mr. Beast it's Elon Musk or someone else famous.

Well, it turns out that's a massive Discord scam that is being spammed by a bu...
How efficient is it long term though? Pretty soon scammer will realize this, and only post in channels with enough activity to not to fall into the honeypot. Then you'll have to create fake activity, etc.
I think it's better to let Discord handle that, given the problem is clearly affecting all servers. Admins trying to solve this is just sending the wrong message to Discord (we'll do the work for you, don't worry).
I mean I acknowledged it's a temporary fix. It's long term effectiveness doesn't matter much if it's going to help now. I would agree if it was a complex thing to set up, but it's not.
Discord have made it pretty clear they don't care because this has been happening for years. Server admins have got to solve these problems. You can't just not protect your community because it's not technically your problem.
I'm sure as new bypass methods come out, so will new methods of protecting against it.
I don't think the malware cares if the stolen accounts get banned on some discords. Probably will be a long time before there's any defense against honeypots like this
as mentioned in that video, the scam itself isn't even necessarily the source of the hacks-- it's all stolen accounts as a service now
