@quartz sky Mover is still highly WIP and Experimental correct?
Does it get enough traffic to warrant its own channel?
I don't think a custom channel makes sense. Mover exists in two forms already, with NPP and Chaos. A lot of the Mover discussions will take place in #multiplayer , which is good, imo. CMC also doesn't have its own channel. Making new channels per smaller UE feature is too much.
And that has nothing to do with it being Experimental etc. There is simply by far not enough traffic to have a custom channel.
what about one channel for movement, which could be for cmc and mover and whatever else?
I ask questions here from time to time (in relation to movement stuff), but part of the reason I don't is because there isn't a dedicated place. Sometimes it needs to be game math, sometimes it needs to be in physics, sometimes it needs to be in multiplayer, so it gets spread around. I have found other people in similar boats!
Problem is that you get the inverse issue if you split the channels too much.
Then you maybe have a specific place for movement, but the people who are knowledgable in movement don't want to be in 4 different channels.
There are a lot of very skilled peeps in #multiplayer #cpp #blueprint and also #chaos-physics . And fwiw even in #game-math .
Those people won't sit in #movement, at least most of them, so if you ask about Chaos Mover there, you might not get any answer.
You can already observer the issue with #online-subsystems. Last messages there were 5th of December. Lots of those questions end up in #multiplayer and if someone asks in #online-subsystems they often don't get an answer cause the peeps that know about that stuff also forget about the channel and sit in #multiplayer .
We had a bunch of channels that we made for features (other single or groups) that sit in an archive by now cause they just died over a span of a few days.
