There is this massive server but almost all interaction is on an individual level, we should make this discord more community involved via weekly polls or even monthly events of some kind.

There is a massive audience here in which we can gain major feedback, whether it be directly for unreal engine or just general consensus or opinion surveys based around game development.
Things such as polls for

  • Most popular VCS
  • Favorite UE features
  • Most broken UE features that need attention
  • Opinions on current events
  • News that features successful UE based indie games
  • Interviews and Q&As with UE professionals

We have a massive audience here and we are barely using it to its fullest potential. It does not need 24/7 attention but you do have enough moderators or the ability to add more moderators to run these kinds of events and community involvement.

I would really like if this could get some serious thought and attention to it, thank you.

Time and effort are the main barriers to all of these types of community engagement events.

The Moderation team is entirely voluntary, added on top of that, we all work fulltime within the industry.

The spare time that we do have as individuals is spent keeping up Moderation efforts.

#

With that said, we would love to have more community events.

#

There are some things being discussed behind the scenes with the Epic Community Team to drive more engagement with the community here on the Server.

#

However those things are also entirely dependent on availability of all involved. So it is slow to get rolling.

#

The bottom line is, we aren't paid to be here, we give what time we have, therefore its difficult to get these types of things going.

So perhaps offer the opportunity for other regularly active individuals who do not yet possess a moderator role - or even perhaps add a new role such as "Community Ambassador" with less moderation role and more of an involved role towards getting events and stuff going.

There is most definitely a solution ready to be uncovered, I just think it's a big missed opportunity is all.

That would not only keep the current server members coming back and looking forward to things but increase opportunities for growth from new individuals

How would polls on ue features give growth to new individuals?

Even if we hand out such roles or rights to non-moderators, all of the stuff would need to go through moderators and admins in the end anyway.
I've seen enough Discord Servers where people didn't properly check what was going on before such events started, and it ended "not so nice".
