Scammers in the job board

I’ve had a lot of good experience hiring artists on the job board so far, but multiple times somebody has tried to sell me a full commission price for a character model that they just stole from the fab store. I know the job board is use at your own risk and there’s little that can organizationally be done to protect against this since people can make new discord accounts and rejoin, but just wanted to surface this as both a PSA and as something someone smarter than me might have a solution for. Maybe we can include more specific risks and things to watch out for in the readme before posting?

If somebody has just stolen something from the fab store and doesn't have any actual skills, you could ask them to change something on the model and see what they say.

It's not solving any kinds of problems, might but help weed out the AI/theives?

And of course ask to see portfolios and things.

(though they could equally be stolen from teh fab store)

I mean even if they are able to change the model, which usually they are, showing me someone else’s work as your own is already cheating. And yeah the portfolios can not be trusted

Yeah. It's a shitty situation to be sure.

Even on fab you get people selling other's work. It'd be funny if that work was then stolen again from fab by somebody on here.

And just to be clear this isn’t me guessing that the asset was stolen. This is me having gone through every single sci fi asset on fab, cg trader, and art station before looking to commission stuff

+1 for adding some warnings detailing common deceptive practives on the job form thingy.

At the very least just a warning that discord is rife with scammers and to be doubly and triply sure
