Here's something I've been cooking for a while. An Unreal Engine plugin that might help devs who work on a game with lots of Data Assets, which icons looks all the same and it's not possible to visually identify them quickly.
The plugin:

  • Enables custom thumbnails on Data Assets. These thumbnails can be just textures, which are later used in the game to display them in i.e. the inventory.
  • Allows to set custom colors and default icons for different types of Data Assets.
    All of that with just a single switch.
