You know the corner where there’s an angle which you can change to widen the cone? Make that a point instead of a line.
Then when you change Z scale, the point can’t get any taller, but the outer edge can, so you get the flare you wanted

That’s only if you want to switch to static mesh though. You’ve already put it a lot of work
here is a cube in 3DS max. I have collaped the verts on one side, and scaling to get similar effects
