Hi there..
Since the release of CommonUI, many questions for the plugin get posted into the general channel instead of umg. Pretty much cause of the naming.
Can you guys rename the umg channel?
Maybe to ui or umg & commonui?
I think that would make clearer, where CUI questions belong to 🙂

UI wouldn't fit because that would also cover slate... and there's a separate channel for that.

Since CommonUI is based on UMG - it belongs into the same channel.. so maybe umg & commonui is the name to go..

A simple CommonUI question can get pretty big and extended... pushing away the real general stuff..

CommonUI is already UMG, so it should be asked in UMG imo. Don't think it needs a rename.

CommonUI is indeed just UMG. The only reason people name it is because it's a separate plugin, but it may very well just be part of the core assets.
If you see people ask/post about it in other channels than #umg , please just redirect them.

it took me many months before i realized the "UMG" was UI based questions, so i think a renaming would make more sense than to not

Not convinced. The term "UMG" will be instantly introduced when you start using UI.
Needing "many months" to realize this means you either didn't do any UI stuff in UE before, or you simply ignored the term.
The majority of resources and tutorials out there are also all talking about UMG.
Based on that argument we would need to rename a lot of channels to a more generic name.

It's also not the only ui system in ue.
It would be like renaming #blueprint into programming because you didn't know what blueprints were. And then there's c++, verse, etc.

lmao true, im just realizing that as a beginner, your hearing the word "widget" more than UI or UMG if you're following a tutorial or something, just figured it would be the word that i would have recognized off the bat when first learnigna bout said stuff
