Profundem is a Minecraft-inspired sandbox game that marries the combat system and world building of DarkSouls 3 with the expressional and in-depth crafting systems of Minecraft and Terraria. Everything is in the design phase as of this post, though core concepts have been set.

I've been working on assets for this game idea of mine for about two months now, though progress has halted. This would be the first post showing some models I've worked on. I've never actually done pixel art or low-res stuff like this before, but I think it turned out ok.

These are the Combat Armour sets one can craft, being from Iron, Copper, Gold, Emerald, Sapphire and Ruby, with some weapons to their respective materials- all of which, play into a balancing system that creates a Rock, Paper, Scissors combat loop.

Each armour also has "Gem Slots", which much like how in Dark Souls one can inset gems and stones into their weapons to yield unique effects, so can these armours- which is what plays into the triangle 'Rock, Paper, Scissor' combat loop.

As these are only the Combat Armour Sets, around fifteen other sets need to be created for a Chainmail Armour type and a Mana Robe type, all with unique and meaningful designs for each material type, respectively.

The design of the Armours are made for what is the equivalent of phalanx formations in this universe, with the triangular form of the helmet locking in with a special diamond-shaped shield that interlocks with others (The mentioned shield, seen with the gold armour variant). The culture(s) and lore of this universe is semi-fleshed out, and have a hard-fantasy flair to them.

The small leather pouches to the side of the characters indicate the player has some sort of secondary tool equipped in their inventory, and disappears once the tool is unequiped- such as a healing ring or an invisibility totem that has not depleted yet: There can be a total of three pouches on a character, reflecting the three secondary tool slots one has in their inventory, shown below.

If any fellow artists or indie developers are interested in working with me on this project, please do not hesitate to reach out. I am only one man, and with an extremely hectic schedule as of moving back to Europe: I'd like to make art my main priority and income, and launching this project into a playable state, perhaps a Beta just to prove the concept, would really help with that goal. I have only made some assets, including some creatures and block textures, though I have not a single gram of comprehension with coding or actual game development. I really want to bring this project into reality, so I'll be slowly working on it as best I can and probably make as many assets as I can, before getting some coders on board.
