I'm a solo dev starting from absolute scratch with no experience. My pie-in-sky dream is making a single player first person extraction shooter. The video is me following a tutorial and is just copied one to one. I've made whiteboard notes below as basic concepts.
An inventory management, survival extractor shooter.
Single player/separate coop mode
Story: protagonist is a prisoner tasked with watching, catching, and neutralizing anomalies within a forest/dark area. Things in the zone are not as they seem and the anomalies become more and more anomalous.
Gameplay details: protagonist resides in a watchtower. It will act as a safe area where the protagonist can sleep, eat, upgrade, etc. Anomalies may either be caught by a rover mechanic or trap system(to be finalized).
Gameplay loop: trap anomalies, bring them back to base, sell/neutralize them. Leaving the watchtower may be dangerous but you can scour for resources or weapon parts. Sell anomalies for cash and buy parts for guns, resources, watchtower upgrades, etc.
Gameplay progression: inventory system, after extractions, watchtower upgrades, trading, anomalous pets(to be finalized)
Story progression: one anomalous entity acts as a conduit and quest giver. Story choices change physical and mental characteristics of the protagonist
EX: story hallucination will result in either cutting off or not cutting off players hand if making the wrong decision
