Hi guys, I'm Brazilian and I'm developing a game with a dark and sad theme about a real and dark period that took place in Brazil in the 80s. The game is based on the real case of the "Hospital Colônia". It was a place that became known to the public in the 80s for the inhumane treatment it offered patients. Many deaths occurred there.
In this psychiatric hospital, people were "dumped" without any treatment. Many children were taken there and killed. It was a very dark time indeed. Indigents, homosexuals, Protestants or any other term that was a "threat to the government" were collected from the streets of Minas Gerais and taken in droves onto a train, which dropped them off at the hospital. Because of this, this period in Brazil was known as the "Brazilian Holocaust"
To compose the scenario (level design) I will travel to the city where the hospital is located, carrying out field and photographic research, so that I can create the 3D environment, based on the real place. Some of the buildings on the site have been demolished, so I'm doing historical research with the Brazilian government to locate these photos so I can recreate the buildings in 3ds max.
For now, I'm still worrying about creating all the mechanics of the game, and only then can I move on to level design.
In my game, the character needs to go to the hospital and interact with the ghosts (who were patients in the past), unravel mysteries, find items and help the ghosts leave the past behind. I'll leave you with the video of the latest update of the game that I made this week, but on the channel there's a playlist containing the development process.
