The environment remids me Far Cry 5 and The Last of Us for some reason, what your RTS inspirations?
@wanton vine Sorry, i didn't see the msg. I have multiple inspirations. World of Warcraft, Warcraft3, StarCraft, Heroes of the Storm, The Settlers, Discworld, etc. I'm still deciding how gritty vs cartoony, silly vs serious the game should be. I also want to have fantasy world without the typical elf, orc races yet keep the vibe they create. ๐

@final pagoda Nah, I'm still far from it. I just have a YT channel with 6 subs on which i drop some content from time to time https://www.youtube.com/@SnKGameDev. I want to have something more 'finished' to show before i make a webside, and something playable before i even think about steam. I'll probably start a Discord channel before any of that :D. Here's some bonus screenshits ๐
Im not sure how many of those env assets are in-house and how much are from fab, but regardless, You have done an extremely good job at creating a consistent art style for the game.
It looks absolutely beautiful.
I have been in this community for a while and seen a lot of different projects. None of them look as pretty as yours.
If you can get some unique creatures and some unique gameplay mechanics, I think people will definitely get hooked into what your game is.
Its got the artstyle to draw the eye, so you are already like 70% of the way there.
I am on a big unreal engine team and currently trying to specialize in Audio gameplay systems
(perhaps if the project gains traction I could potentially contribute and help out ๐ )
@final pagoda Thank You for all the kind words :). It's all in-house - including animations. Only 'asset' i bought so far was a water shader (which stopped working :D) and ofc. the standard UE character. I'm not sure if I'll be able to get unique mechanics. I want to have a more cozy spin on something that already exist.
I would love to stay in touch since I'll def. gonna need some help with sound in the future. I'm quite inept when it comes to audio.

Small update. Working on the trees
Dude im tellin you, these environment assets go so well together, even if there's no gameplay, its still going to interest people ๐
Seriously though, with how these environments are looking, this is really looking like a great foundation from which to implement gameplay systems ontop of.
Every time I come back here to look at the progress, the new pictures look even better than the last.
You absolutely have something here that needs to keep going, I have been trying to figure out what sort of game genre would go well with these environments and this camera angle and honestly. If you made a combination of an RTS/Society Builder game, but could walk around as a character to also progress, this thing will sell like hot cakes.
I'm trying to think of how you could work it to be a good gameplay loop that works with what you have.
If you did a society builder game, but every month (certain amount of gameplay time) there is a raid on your society and it turns into a RTS game, I think that would be a seriously good way to play it. Especially if you could progress in both modes with a controlled character.
Imagine raiding a little fort for resources to better build your society, only to come back just in time for the raid and fight against enemies with your society.
No game really has that blend of genres in that way and its not even that hard to develop.
Would be an idea definitely worth looking into.
(I would actually consider offering to join and offer my skills to help if the game turned out to be something like that)

Gameplay-wise, I was thinking about creating a mix of Thronfall(but not limited to a small zones) and WoW:Remix where You constantly gain skills/strenght by killing monsters and clearing up areas. Your base would expand based on your actions - of course You would have to defend it from monsters, build up defences etc. I wasnt thinking bout a typical RTS view. I want the whole game to be based around your single character actions. I like Your idea of splitting the gameplay between action and "calm" managment of your town :).

https://youtu.be/b0JufGX9Cjs Small updated. I've finished first few pickable items for the early version of the game. So far, they're hand placed around the level, but later on, they will drop from various things. Project is moving forward ๐
Added few new props to the game that includes new wooden chest and all pickable itames for the early version.

Cooll stuff, I saw the video with the fog, I saw y're doing it on tick and it stack removing your falloff, to fix this, im not sure what are y doing with the RTs, but, y need to use min/max as operators instead of add or multiply or whatever y're doing
@austere arch Thank You. I was actually thinking about buying Fog plugin since that was only one of many issues i had with it ๐

Some building animation
First time seeing your project. Visually this is a triple A game. Art direction is amazing. Color pallet is great. Lighting is very well done. Textures fit perfectly. The sawmill animation is just chefs kiss
I have been slowly teaching myself 3d specifically to build environments and when I think of what I would like my art to look like at its peak, it is remarkably similar to this.

If at some point I see you have released this game. I would likely purchase it solely to explore and study the artstyle. Added bonus i like RTS games lol.
Keep it up. You have something great in the works and I truly wish to see this game have a successful release.

@nova totem best part about making a game yourself? You don't have to go hunting for the dev to fix things lol. You'll get it right eventually
