#Optimisation channel

It's not best named in this context, but that's where you'd go for optimisation help.
The reason we dont have an Optimization channel is because thats to non specific.
Everything in the engine can have optimization applied to it
The #profiling channel is much better as it focuses on the tools available to aid in optimizing
You should also ask about optimization in the channels that relate to what you are trying to optimize.
Could this be made clearer in either the naming or descriptions?
We are always open to suggestions on how to make things clearer. As long as they align with the overall approach and philosophy of how we manage the server.
I am suggesting a minor adjustment to the channel description: "Discuss the many profiling tools and optimization techniques available in Unreal Engine, and how to use them." OR "Discuss the many profiling and optimization tools available in Unreal Engine, and how to use them.". Also a bit more radical, but perhaps changing the channel name to something more user friendly such as #optimisation or similar, as there might be users who are not familiar with the technical jargon. Also, I believe there are other ways to optimize your game without profiling?
I just outlined above why #optimisation is not going to be a channel.
If I need to optimize Blueprints, I would go to the #blueprint channel.
If I need to optimize Materials, I would go to the #materials channel.
Etc etc
You optimize for specific features which are causing bottlenecks.
A monolithic #optimization channel would be chaos, as it would have discussion on totally unrelated subjects all trying to compete for attention.
Ok but how would a new user that just discovered Unreal Insights lets say, to troubleshoot his newly started game, know that the place for him to ask for help about this tool is in #profiling? The term is quite technical and not immediately apparent to new users for a naming convention of sorts that could be a lot more straightforward
They'd ask in general where to ask the more specific question
Lots of people, in fact, do just ask in random channels and get redirected there.
"Lots"
A bit counterintuitive but okay, I don't think the general channel should even be used as ideally every question would have its place, even going through the channel description it is not immediately apparent to a newcomer that this is the place to discuss optimisation tools and how to use them
You can't have a channel for everything...
You're new here but that's not how this place works...
This isn't a question/answer depot with designated bins for questions.
It's a community where people hang out and chat in addition to helping others.
Fair, but it would be nice, to some extent, to always find your place.
It would facilitate conversation if people stopped spamming the general channel with queries which seemingly have no designated channel
People don't, though.
Have you tried having a conversation in general? It's the wild west out there.
