#Merge ue4-general and ue5-general

Having two channels to ask a general question about Unreal Engine halves the chances of creating engaging & helpful conversations. Additionally, UE5 is UE4 with extra features (and those features already have their own dedicated channels, e.g lumen/nanite, so UE5 specific questions have their place).

The problem is, ue4 specific issues and questions now have no place and get drowned out

#

Hence the channel separation

#

You wanna talk about world composition, or some very unreal engine 4 specific issues, too bad, it will get drowned out by ue5 talk

#

I'm not sure how you figure it halves the chance of engaging and helpful conversation

#

If anything merging them lessens it, because helpful ue4 topics get drowned by the more popular ue5 topics, versus their own dedicated place

Plenty of teams are still using UE4, and as ACuppaTea pointed out, it has unique cases for support that do not apply to UE5.

I suspect it will be a long time before we phase that channel out.
