New demo! Added some new systems
Systems
- Cloak - Very similar to other invisible system in MOBAs and RTS games
- Area Of Effect Abilities - Before casting ability you will get a marker to show the range and left click will cast the ability
- Energy - a stat that regenerates and is a resource consumed by some abilities
Abilities
- Cloak - Toggleable ability that drains energy over time
- Chrone Flux - AOE ability that slows enemies and speeds up allies in an area
Units (Pending name changes)
- Vulture - mobile ground unit car like
- Wasp - fast air unit that doubles as a worker
- Observer - cloaked slow air unit that is passive
Map
- Tree resource - secondary resource used for abilities/buildings/upgrades
- Added some bridges across the map

does your fog of war system have any sort of raycasting for blocking vision on certain things such as trees etc?
yes, but so far it's only used to block high ground vision. The map is subdivided into a 128x128 grid and at the start of the game i shoot a ray at the center of each gridcell and record it's height. Which is used to compare if a unit can have vision of other cells that are at a different height

is the fog essentially a shader / post process material? I don't think you explained that in the devlogs (I assume the render target would be used in the pp material)
right now the fog is just a plane that covers the map with a material with a render target that is a 128x128 pixel image. That makes pixels transparent depending if you see that corresponding grid cell
figured it was time to start adding some fx even though these are just temp (starcraft sounds dont sue me blizzard) it does make the game feel way more alive

finally got around to fixing the pushing mechanic it still needs fine tuning but it's working a lot better than before 👍

i was a bit tired of looking at the mannequin model so i decided to try and learn a bit of 3d modelling and make a low poly character for the marine unit. Far from perfect, but since it's a top down rts I think this will work lol
