Afternoon all - Looks like I'm getting the time off I'll need to participate in this year's MegaJam, so I'm throwing my hat in the ring and looking for people to collaborate with! My DMs are currently open, and even if we're not necessarily a match, I'll try and pair you up with other people who have contacted me who may fit you better.

A few things to know about me;

  • In my day job I'm a Technical Designer and work on console / PC games. In jam terms, this means I like to take care of the heavy lifting in gameplay design & implementation. I know my way around blueprint and other editor tools, and also like to take on the basic project management concerns.

  • I've participated in the jam several times; over the past three years, scoring an honourable mention and two prize wins (of course, it also takes great team members!).

What I'm ideally looking for;

  • People who know they will commit. I jam hard and am ready to work hard the entire duration of the jam; I'd like to work with people who have the time and commitment; you're definitely going to jam and you're going to make the time to do so.

  • People who know their shit. I've learnt from experience that it's best for people of similar experience and expectations of the jam to work together and that it can be stressful for all involved when it's not in alignment. I'd like to work with people who have good knowledge of their particular discipline (ideally different from mine, e.g. art, animation, audio) and are capable of applying it. You don't have to be a professional working in games, but you have probably spent a lot of time working in the engine and may have done jams before.

  • Bonus points if you're an existing team who know their shit, have time to commit, and are just looking for that extra person!

Probably the most fun I've had doing a jam game - I had a lot of fun doing the writing for this one (and the game wouldn't be what it is without uncleboof knocking the voices right out of the park). I handled practically all of the game code and the majority of the sequencer work; there's well over 100 individual sequences in this one, thanks to the branching dialogue!). The guys handling the art also nailed all the small touches; the lip synch, the UI anims etc.

2021: Animation Prize

I can't really take any credit for the animation prize, but it was definitely very well earnt - the most professional team I've worked with on a jam for sure; I wouldn't be surprised if they go on to score more wins in future if they enter. I handled the design and programming for this one, and this is one of my favourite jam concepts so far. I love how tight the gameplay is, but underestimated just how hard the game can be (lesson learnt!).

2022: Honourable Mention

An experimental solo entry; I'm very pleased with the game mechanics which came together super fast; the seven opponents even have functional card-battler AI, but I boxed myself into the corner with the custom renderer by not getting it up and running until the jam had already started, and discovered partway through the jam that it was very limited (e.g. no transparent particles) and struggled to make anything art-wise which really let it down.

Gonna give this one little bump as it's been over a week, then let it fade into obscurity
