Some changes made.
And maybe make it spawn slowly?
It's a placeholder at the moment. But looking to use it and improve it.
This sequence for a competition is limited to 5 seconds, so I can't really slow it down much more or it loses the slight surprise quality for the story at the end.
Now I have fixed one part of the reflection not working correctly only to find raytracing adding some more artifacts.
@round ledge The portal may still not be "realistic" enough, but this one is far better than the last one I used as a place holder lol.
the video cut off before I could see the portal
Maybe this one plays full length for you.
is this supposed to be the last frame?
It is. Can't go past 5 seconds or the portal visibility would not be an issue, but also can't bring the portal in too early or it breaks the story. I have it set to appear from about the last 1.5 to 2 seconds. Trying to find the sweet spot is the hard part. Not too early and not too late.
This is part of a competition so the camera position and duration are set in stone which is a pain. I could do with another 5 seconds....
ahh understandable, it looks incredible though
good luck with the competition!
Thanks dude.
Some more tweaks done and a bit of color tweaking. Still not quite happy with it yet. But my wife who is an artist told me that when I'm 75% happy with it then it is ready lol....
Yep. I'm working on that one.... Slowly lol. For some strange reason the wind disappears on the trees. Not sure if it's a PCG thing or not. I have the megascan wind control Blueprint and the pcg in the sequencer and nothing. So on to the next thing in the list of fixes.
I'm going to try using the take recorder next as the wind does work in the editor play through.
Thanks for the critique. It is always welcome.
Of course..
If youre using Ultra Dynamic Sky, dropping the clouds down a little so they cover the mountain tops really helps with scale and brings the back ground up a notch - i use it in literally every scene to level the volumetrics up
Once you get that wind in, the scene will completely change
Anything to bring your shot "to life" really helps, birds flocking when the portal appears, leaves falling etc
Yep. UDS is in the scene. I have the clouds as low as I want them. I don't want them too low as they will obscure the mountains too much and lose the framing shot of the mountains altogether.
I'm waiting to see if I can get the wind working on the trees before putting leaves in as having some leaves blowing would look weird with no wind on the trees lol. But I know exactly what you mean. It does need a little more "life".
