#force paid job listings to actually list a salary range

Yeah this would be a great change. Would make it very easy to spot the scammers.
I support this ^_^
Please report these users to Moderators so we can investigate and remove the posts if necessary.
Even if we were to require a salary, that wouldnt stop those same people just putting in a fake number.
But i can see it being useful at a glance.
@rustic atlas
The added pressure of adding a salary number would help deter scammers but also make the honest person reflect the value of the job for example one last time as they post. This is just my thoughts anyway

I am not convinced this would significantly affect the ratio of scammers. Has anyone seen real world examples?
It may not affect scammers, they can just lie, but it'd give people applying for jobs at least some idea of what to expect.
It also gives people some recourse if they say, "well, actually, I just put that there to get attention, it's actually this..."
Plus it would help me figure out if I would be fairly compensated for the amount of work I am putting in. Lets say if they want to build a entire Economy system for 200$, I would simply pass it.[For freelance projects 🙂 ]

at a surface level it can be easily used to filter the jobs that aren't worth your time
and see those that are probably scams by putting a blank field, or too good to be true numbers etc.
Thanks for the feedback, everyone. These are good arguments. Unfortunately, it appears modals are still limited to 5 fields, so I cannot add this without sacrificing one of the existing fields.
Can you say, "Please put your expected salary in the description" ?
Without making it a field by itself.
That would defeat the purpose.
I mean, it would mean it can't be automatically validated.
The only reasonable path I see is to collapse Qualifications and Responsibilities into a single Job Description field.
That could work
I like those being separate, but I am open to the possibility that the added value of a salary range would be worth the loss of consistent structure.
I'm not sure how you do things currently, but it's possible to utilise more than one modal
based on the bot I've worked on for another discord:
- Command issued
- Create the empty data structure used for the end output.
- Display an assortment of buttons.
- Modal per button for input.
- 'post' button to send.
(like this~ :3 )
Location also doesn't seem to be all too important
as most jobs are remote
could be moved to how to apply
nah the location is pretty important imo. i've seen not an insignificant amount of "On site - Thailand" or somewhere else really far away
no point wasting my time applying there or moving through the process if i know relocation to the other side of the world is not an ption
On another related note, being able to laugh react some job offers would be cool...
I once thought an Upvote/Downvote react system might come in handy, but honestly I could see that being abused
"Dude didnt hire me, downvote him"
This is why we don't have such a system and don't allow reactions in job board channels. It is too easy to abuse.
This is an interesting idea worth exploring. Thanks for sharing!
