how does this work? is it 2 maps using the same coordinates so it can apply portals on both along with your location?

The environment is created twice and is positioned one below the other, yes, similar to what was done in Dishonored's "A Crack in the Slab". 🙂

oh, I thought they were completely different maps. so basically if I went out of bounds I would see them both floating in mid air?

really good demo, at some point im definitely going to buy the full game. my only feedback is the buttons feel a bit weird to put it on, and the portals feel more like teleporter walls then portals as if you look at it while going through, your not fully encompassed, and with no momentum going through 2 portals on the floor, I was actually able to stand on a portal.

Yes, it doesn't function like the portals in the game Portal; it requires quite complex calculations to implement, and real-time updating of the render target, which significantly impacts performance. 🙂 As for the two portals on the ground, that's an anti-glitch measure, but maybe I'll find another way to handle this in a future update. 🙂

how much experience do you have unreal coding? im a newbie. I did find a portal tutorial which I guess could help ya but I may be wrong

I've been familiar with Unreal since 2015 for environment creation/lighting, and I've been coding on Unreal for 3 years.

came back to note how this is similar to how ruin controlled the vanny mask AR mode, so congrats you are thinking like the devs at one of the biggest horror games in existience

so is the teleportation just a set value? like, it teleports you below 50 meters, and you just make sure the map below is always 50 meters exactly or?

and how did you handle it finding if there was collision down there that if you teleported, you would get stuck?
