In my game, you can be afflicted with various gameplay modifiers called Afflictions. In this case, the Affliction is "Photopsia". When afflicted with this, occasionally an "invisible" enemy will be hanging out around lights. If you see the squiggly squirmy eye floaters appear on your screen, you're "looking" at it, and it will attack you by invading your eyes. You have to shut your eyes to prevent it from dealing damage to you and to kill it.
Along with the eye floaters, you can also hear it when you're looking at it before it attacks you, as a warning. It attacks once you're close enough.
You can see a vague shape of it super-imposed on your vision when you shut your eyes too.

This is really cool! I love the art style you have going on. I do think some work can be done to make it easier to identify the enemy. Currently, it's hard for me to tell what I'm supposed to be looking for. Though I suppose this will be fixed with a tutorial in the game

The vagueness on what you're "looking for" is intended - I think it's much easier to spot the effect in the second video posted above ๐
Yes the onboarding process is quite long for the game due to the esotericness. Each new enemy type is a bit of a puzzle to figure out the most appropriate response.
