#[FAQ] Downgrading project to earlier version

Answer: No
The answer should be longer if possible, explaining why it is not possible to downgrade.
UE5 is very different from ue4, they changed everything from the physics to the water system, they didnt even bother trying to make it possible to downgrade to ue4, everything will corrupt if you do so, even if you try to copy a snippet of blueprints from ue5 to ue4, half of them will disappear, they simply did not add the support.
The serialized representation of most everything completely changed in ue5
Except you can't also downgrade between UE4 versions.
yeah I don't think they bother adding downgrade support between any versions
just upgrades
most (not all but most) of the time it's better to be running on a newer version anyways I don't see any reasonable reason to go backwards
when u need an asset ig
Some undiscovered, game breaking engine bug would be fair
That's sadly pretty common
Especially in bigger titles. Not everything can be tested for when upgrading engine. And not everything instantly has a cherry pickable fix. But sadly doesn't change that one can't downgrade
