#Would it not make sense to have discord threads or forums in certain channels on this server?

No, because then your question would be buried much more quickly
so creating chat log history is more important than the present conversation? and even so, surely even if someone did take the time to search something. it probably wouldn't be any more difficult and when they do find a related conversation it will be easier to read.
What?
- I don't get what you mean by your first question. People that answers questions on a forum channel will start reading from the top, and every new post or comment on a post will put your post further down.
- I can't imagine searching in the forum would be any easier than in a channel
Or forum channel. Sorry. Just anything to group discussions together instead of them being a merged mess when your talking or need to read back for reference
Would it not make sense to have discord threads or forums in certain channels on this server?
Anyway I'm not here to argue for it. It's a genuine suggestion which would help alot imo
If your going to make a suggestion, shouldn't you have grounds to argue its usefulness?
I agree with you @strange pulsar. It is easier to follow a thread than have to scroll through the channel history and ignore responses that are not related. It may be too much to ask everyone respond in threads.
It would be nice if questions asked here were somehow mirrored on Unreal forums that way others searching the web can access possible solutions. Discord search capabilities aren't that great.
indeed, to be honest i dont see anything negative about doing this, even if its just the blueprints channel for example. It should not make discord search worse or better (however once finding a relevant result it should make for easier reading) and its not even just that. when 2, 3 or even 4 conversations are happening at once, it can make things alot more hectic and confusing than it should be. if people wana chat away then fair enough there are general channels etc to do that, but the help channels should have some organisation against this in my opinion. to be honest i didnt want to start a huge debate, i pinged the mods to request this and they told me to just place the question here. so i have.
I 3rd this, threads are kinda new for me I mostly ignored them for a while but after having used them in a few other discord channels they actually seem really useful
This has been suggested before, and most of the regulars that were here were fairly against the idea.
There already is forum support for unreal engine. The unreal engine forums. The discord chat doesnt need to copy that imo.

We internally already tried out forums and Nick had a bunch of setups ready. When we started to post about them a lot of users where very against them.We haven't progressed since then and I don't see us doing that in the near future. All of your (you all) arguments are probably valid. But we also already read them all in the original post. So nothing really changed.
All you would need to do is enforce staying on topic, especially in cpp
A few outliers would get warned/banned immediately, since 90% of the activity in that channel is shitposting
Sure but I hate the UE forums too many posts just sit there unanswered or with a single comment "figured it out thanks"
Plus if you don't want to use it you can it more it you get both a channel and a thread
It's also somewhat prevalent in Stack Overflow, but it's more moderated
Need threads. 3 or 4 convos happening in a single chat is ridiculous
