74 files spanning 30 minutes of audio, 12 tracks having one full version, a looping version, an intro and two outros/stingers, plus a main looping theme. Since the nature of the album is focused on loops, this is excellent for in-game background music.

Thanks everyone! @lucid badger How do you mean, how long did it take to develop? This particular incarnation of the project has been in development since around Summer 2019. Hard to put an exact date on it, but it was early Summer. =)
@ebon hamlet Thanks man! I'm guessing due to the fast pace combat haha? Yeah the dodges can make it look rather bouncy at times. We wanted to make something that was rather fast paced and responsive, to deal with combat encounters that involved timed reactions to succeed. When the Hellion units get introduced dodging becomes more integral to the rotation. We are working on other abilities to counter them aside from that, but nothing that was ready to show at the moment. ๐

In this tutorial we will go over world aligned texture tiling, pixel depth offset blending, distance field blending, and the new realtime virtual texture blending.

@paper dagger The NodePrefabs are usually project/user and workflow based. Also they are usually quite small. Everthing "big" should be part of a function, as long as it is possible. So what you are looking for is a general code share point. There is https://blueprintue.com/ which can be used to share code nicely (never used it).
BlueprintUE.com is a tool for sharing, rendering and rating blueprints for Unreal Engine 4. UE4 is a game engine which use visual scripting called blueprint.

What does this mean for the game and it's push towards success back on the Steam market?
This is a vital step for the game being able to be thorough enough for a full release on Steam by this year, of 2020.
That also means there is a much lower chance their will ever have to be an Early Access release on Steam itself, since most testing may work out
through the game's course of development on sites like itch.io, and/or indie.db alone.
So what's the most important thing I should know before downloading the beta from itch.io at any given time?
Always note this will be a in-development, continuously updated title while itch.io. This means a few things. One, don't expect any sort of "perfection" right out of the box.
This is continuously evolving game, meaning development is pursued every day of the week, nearly 24/7 in my current state.
Secondly, things will be changing at a constant, and almost always, there will be dev-logs, streams, and more to follow, which if you're interested in the game and it's development, are very, very important to follow as closely as possible. Lastly, right now, Wolfthorn and it's beta is entirely optional to donate towards it's funding. It is indeed free, however, at my current state I don't really have any sort of "income". That means, donations aren't forced of course, but are significantly beneficial to the game's push towards a full, paid release on larger markets like Steam. It is very important to note that all funds collected towards the beta platform will go entirely towards Wolfthorn's development and that only.

I wonder whether these plugs do something more than wrap the dll api + some blueprint expose.
No, they don't. Would also be sort of wasted time to do more.
You grab the API, you make your own class that exposes stuff to BPs in case something has a state, for the rest you use a StaticLibrary and every type that Steam has, that you can't expose to BPs, you simply wrap into a UStruct, make functions that use the new struct and back in C++ you work with the native type.
You'll find that approach with every third party plugin. May it be the Gamesparks, PlayFab stuff, or a JSON plugin.
It's just a very, very, very tiresome process. Cause you sort of have to duplicate the whole api.
Even if you don't code the actual function implementations agian, but you still have to expose it all.
Yeah, I can imagine. But if it comes to that, I guess I would do some parsers for it, lol.

Yeah, that and you can do some CustomThunk stuff to use templates, but it's still annoying to do.
Steam for example is one of those things where you either need a Plugin or you know that stuff and you don't bother and use the API in C++.

@paper dagger Thatโs why interfaces are so powerful. Never need to cast, and you can send out not knowing if the receiver exists. Not sure why youโd need this handler when interfaces are in the engine

it can become bad really fast with instances, resuling in many idenical permutations causing massive bloat, up to 100's of mb's
having said that, if the tutorial is good, it will explain this and how to avoid it. (and explain master-instances)

@formal cairn It can be bad, but everything you do has a cost, nothing is free. It's all a trade off at the end of the day and being able to control a vast library from a handful of functions is a good trade off, for me, personally ^^
I used to have tons of materials and kept getting confused in my own mess, consolidating it down to it's core made sense for me and I haven't looked back since then :o
that only counts in a tutorial when explained thoroughly though
(also to some extend talking about switches in #graphics )
but having said that, I welcome any tutorial that helps others :)
Well by default, everything in the master shader is set to off with only a constant value, I think you can still do your step with the master instance

Hey guys! About 4 years ago I started volunteering my time to an indie studio that ran out of funding to pay their employees. Over that time myself and 5 other people tore the game apart and rebuilt it in our spare time. On Monday this week we finally left the early access store on steam and fully released. We are trying to grow our community now.
The game is an 8 v 8 third person tactical arcade shooter. If anyone played SOCOM 2 on PS2 you will likely feel a VERY strong resemblance between the two of them. We have a custom workshop as well where the community can make maps so our total playable maps is around 40 at the moment. You can host your own dedicated servers as well as host user created rooms which everyone jus connects to the host.
We have a Very Positive recent rating since release and mixed overall. When the game released into steam early access back in 2015 it was, for lack of a better word, sub par. When the studio lost funding a few of us from the community started volunteering our time after work and family obligations to get the game released on PC. I'll attach my note I wrote to the community that has been supporting us these past 4 years to give you a little more insight into why this project means so much to me.
We are on sale for a little less than $10 for the rest of the week. And going up to $13 after.

@twilit haven I mostly use Blender 2.8 for Facial Mocap. and Brekel for Body Mocap
you can avoid it by contacting Warner Brothers and asking them for permission to use their intellectual property. we all know what the response will be. Fair Use laws are a little grey, but almost certainly not enough to protect something like it looks like you're doing. all anyone could say is "proceed at your own risk", if Warner Bros ever sees it there is a chance you may have to shut it down and never show anyone what you made. of course, if it becomes that popular, there's also that tiny chance that someone important will see it and open up some opportunity for you. but most of the time I don't think that is what happens

@jade hatch The only way to 100% avoid it is to put nothing out since people can send them for any reason, valid or not. The only way to avoid one from WB/DC or whoever owns Batman would be to get a release from them to use it or use something original that is not someone else's IP. Unfortunately, the higher quality your project is , when using a property like Batman, the more likely it will receive a takedown notice or other action.
It's not 100%. They don't have to enforce their IP and there's more than a few tiny fan films that have flown under the radar. Trademark is different though.

@split fox Hi Monarch, even if your model seems quite original, I don't think it's really usable; or at least in that form.. it doesn't seem to be skinned so it cannot be animated. Also even you want your customers to use it as a prop I think you should provide a model with way less polygons. Try to look out for this. I hope you take this as a constructive advice and not as useless criticism.

I don't get it, we already have the group/ungroup & lock/unlock system to do that. + the layers to quickly select objects that are in differents groups.

Yeah, pretty much. I suppose, that it was trying to get vector coord. out of objects, that were already destroyed so it created them in world origin. If I knew about that node I would surely included that.

@paper dagger are you referring to things like the following? If so what are some common ones you come across. I can add them to the C++ cheat sheet I made.

I mean in BP nodes. What should go to "Object" is always a mystery.
Imagine you've got the actor output from a linetrace, and you want to call a function on said actor that's only part of a certain class
And, i have read and watch tutors that tries to explain logic behind it. Not helping. Just need visual examples of most typical cast situations and according "objects".
You cast said actor output to whatever class it's intended to be, and if the actor is that class, it'll then allow you to call that function
it's not the same as you say, at least for me as a pretty novice. for example (I don't remember if I actually did it or not), I wanted to use casting in a widget blueprint, which is not possible if I remember correctly. when I did the other way around, casting the widget blueprint, it worked perfectly.
@paper dagger or @blissful shale Do you have an example for the casting you're referring to in blueprints. Simple screenshot would suffice

and the whole IBL system by Choskter adds 1ms to the engine

The engine changes were meant to go into the engine as a Pull Request, -integrated and maintained by Epic- and available for everyone directly from the binary engine. Because who wouldn't like having an additional ambient lighting choice when working with dynamic lights?
Unfortunately the Pull Request was declined by Epic, pretty much coming down to this:
This would add another option that has the potential to confuse artists about what is needed to achieve their visual goals.

Surprises me the people ask more for the secondary systems than the actual world light IBLs or illumination in general, bet isnt clear the fact the whole demo runs on real-time and have no baked illumination, that means it looks good :p

but there are also upgrades scattered in the levels

The blood and eyes look off. Blood look too plastic-y - looks like there is a normal map there that has too much strength
The eyes look very flat
The skin overall is too reflective, unless the character is out from a bath
Hair looks decent I think, not sure what to improve
