After upgrading to 4.19 our character meshes are acting like they are set to hidden in game when in reality they are not. I can get the capsule collider to show up (or anything else that is attached to a character bp), but, character meshes are invisible. I've triple checked that the mesh is set to show in game and is set visible in editor. I placed a set visibility node on tick to make sure that its set to show up up every frame and that does not work.
Anyone else run into this issue after upgrading?

I've worked on a combat game in UE4 and when it was using my code it felt right and then we brought on another person and his code was used and it destroyed the feel of combat

UE4 has tools to help with footslide. Whether that's prioritized over network smoothing is up to the developer.
maybe in testing they decided footslide is acceptable if it makes the game flow better.
BOTW being single player allows them to do a lot of things you can't in a multiplayer game

Yep.
While it takes longer to shut down and start up the engine and editor and all that jazz, it's reliable.

A little bit ago I updated my Nvidia driver, and it seems that they combined Ansel with Shadowplay. In doing this, I am not unable to use Ansel with my projects, it keep saying cannot run on unsupported games. I have it running, and I have whitelist-everything enabled. At this point I'm downgrading to an older driver, because I need Ansel for my projects and as far as I can tell there is no solution. Is anyone else having this issue?

If you set up two factor you can get back in, besides that your hosed from what I can tell
you can probably make a new account just to get into the launcher if you need it or just fire up the editor from outside the launcher as well.

How you do animations so? do you use the unreal animation pack?
Or do you just do on blender or other animation maker?
mocap data or keyframed animation. Or a mix of both. Really depends on your project. The software i use: Maya and Motion Builder. But you can use Blender or whatever package you like the most.
And theres nothing wrong with mixamo. I just didn't use it. Thats all. hehe ๐

No idea, but you could just search for looping animations in general
Usually it's a simple setting or setup in the animBP
If you have the animation in your graph, you could click it and check if there are settings set to loop

I'm confused with unreal's rotation. I'm giving it a 0 to 360 value to add to relative rotation for z and when it loops to 0 it rewinds
What value do I have to give it so that it doesn't rewind with a 0 to 360 value? Even if I try -180 it still does a rewind when it loops

Download the one closest in type to your game... learn how things are put together... start making changes to things to get closer to you want... then start pulling them apart and connecting them in new ways... eventually bring in new assets from other places and make new things

In the editor, when certain actors are visible in the content browser, the output logs are spamming:
"LogSpawn: Warning: SpawnActor failed because class XYZ is abstract"
spawn actor seems to be coming from drawing the thumbnails
it's only happening on a handful of classes though, not just all the abstract ones

but it can't because it's abstract
this is why some abstract actors would cause the issue and not others
they have a default static mesh or whatever
abstract class, just like in C++
it's a base class for other classes, that itself cannot be created / spawned
but also I'm relieved this is an engine bug, hahaha

it means that the pawn mesh follows the camera and not the other way around I guess
I only ask because it seems like when I enable crouch and make the capsule shrink to crouch that "hard-attached" looks more like a soft attached

I made a whole temple in Magica Voxel and I decided to import it to ue4, but as it counts like a whole model, even the air cubes are counting on the colisions. so the character can't even stay in it. Any solutions to my problem? (I only found one but it is extremely hard, which is to make the colisions false on the model and use meshes to work as colisions). Please help me.
@sharp tendon Can't you import the meshes seperately? Importing a whole temple as 1 mesh isn't really a recommended thing to do most of the time ๐
well, I dont think it would resolve the problem, because I still couldnt enter the temple, maybe with a picture I can explain it better.

I'm trying to figure out how to optimize mobile materials so I'm looking at 'sun temple' demo materials. Can someone please enlighten me why there are so many mask textures in materials? Doesn't it make build heavier and hits GPU harder? I'd be happy to find a way of 'baking' particular node of material editor to texture and use simplest texture lookup possible to achieve same effect without performing math operations with masks and base textures.

pretty much yeah. If you just uncheck the tegra stuff from what you tried before it should install fine, you probably don't even need to actually do anything else at this point as it says it already installed fine earlier

ive tried creating separate controllers, no go, on postlogin gives me controllers and i can possess stuff with them, but the actual controllers have no player, so i cant even spawn a hud, or fire inputs
In your game mode there is a default pawn class, is it set?
If you want to start off with โno playerโ you still need a pawn. And that pawn has to control setting up the next pawn itโll posses (a real player)

Even though my laptop was designed for Windows, it functions better in Linux, and I'm downloading them on my laptop currently, because I'm at the college, and at home, I have shitternet. lol
right now i just directly register my abilities assets within asset registry
but it looks like the intended workflow is to create seprate asset which will be search and that will store refereces to in my case ability

IMO, if you're a power user and you are going to use Windows at all, use Windows 10 and neuter it of the parts you don't want to deal with.
If you're a power user, you can neuter the bloatware/telemetry.

@tropic solar To give you some actual advice, if you have no experience with game dev, you really should start very small. Don't try to make a game you'll be proud of and ship to start with - learn the basics making clones of simple things that will never see the light of day.
I have no embarrassment, We all have to start from somewhere. I just don't know much. I have been interested in game design for years, but just now have had the time to look into it and attempt to understand the basics. My questions are not stupid, but i do understand the vagueness of them.
