imho their job is to enforce guidelines and not a bug testing and doing QA for submitters
I think it's also important to point out that they are human, and things get missed. Or problems that are found are covered by the first issue so they were harder to see the first time around, or an infinite number of other things. I used to be on that very team and I can tell you they are nothing if not professional in handling each person's assets, though I can't say anymore than that as I'm still technically under an NDA. Give them the opportunity to do their jobs so that you can get the best version of your product on the marketplace. Besides, it's usually good practice to check your pack for similar issues if they find one, as when there is one, usually there are more that you can head off at the pass.

Without knowing the inner workings neither of us can say that for sure. From an outside view it may not look like it, and certainly all I can offer is my word, which may not be worth much, but as far as I know from having personally been there, and having personally done it, I can tell you these individuals genuinely take their job and your assets seriously and do their best to get it right as quickly and efficiently as they can.

Ok I'll tackle this one at a time, not trying to be condescending or rude, just easier for my brain
sure things can fall trough the cracks, but a pack like that tableset isnt just a small crack, its a sinkhole
for @delicate dove, I understand and agree that it is an oversight and someone made a mistake, but I would not call that massive. Massive is something that directly affects others, and if the assets are as bad as you say, it is doubtful they were drawing sales from others or turning people away from other sellers. As for it being a sinkhole you are correct, and it's one that needs to be filled, but wording matters in this, and you are talking about this almost like it's a crisis when it's really one person kinda fucked up and they had to fix it, it's genuinely not that big of a deal in the long run and probably helped point to areas they need to focus on to better do their jobs. That's just my take on it and I'm not saying your wrong, I'm just saying maybe we shouldn't jump down their throats about every single thing that occurs because all your doing at that point is throwing fire for the sake of throwing fire, and it won't make the situation better.
for @sullen lion tutorial bps, or at least some way to explain the asset, is vital for the buyer, not the seller. You can use text render actors to accomplish it just fine generally and need to be there to explain what your stuff does
think of it like ikea furniture manuals, it's a cya that says what your stuff does so people can't come back pissy

it is massive, it looks poorly on the mp team, it was the joke of the week on discord and twitter, and thats just from what I personally saw. its a slap in the face for people who's content gets declined over stupid reasons like an overlapping wire, no uv's on a vfx mesh, or the curator their computer being poorly set up and therefore a plugin not working (I can name dozen more examples if you want). it makes a mockery of us as sellers who try to make content, reduces the respect we (sometimes barely) have for the curators, and it looks poorly on epic.
Like I'd rather spend a week or w/e to learn premiere and blow a ton of production value
or use a docs gen like what allar made

Like for me I'm less motivated to do work on a pack because I've heard of people being turned around with a quality product, and then see utter trash approved. There's other issues too but I'm an outsider and I'm sure that the people directly effected can argue their points better.
Ok, I want you to think like a reviewer for a moment, just as fairness goes, I'm trying to understand your side, I want you to try to understand theirs, it's only fair.
Just yesterday they rejected our submission for not having any tech details while it did. Tableset does get to go through though.
So you receive a pack with 30+ assets, you now have to go through each and every single asset, check every texture, check every seam, check every material, make sure everything follows the guidelines, get it back to the person in a timely manner. Not that big of a deal for one right? Should take you an hours work?
oh, you've got 30 of those in your inbox (random number, don't know the real one)
If the motives are: Hey ok, so the mesh can be imported and used, and it meets these basic requirements, description matches. Approved. Price is high, let's suggest a cut but if not we put it up like this, then why do I hear my pack was rejected because there's this other thing that is in the same category
if i was a reviwer and I saw that, the unicorn, the duck, the pirated content, and heard my fellow reviwers either declined content because they didnt like that person, or insta-accepted content from a person they liked, or because made up things like max map count, overlapping wires in perfectly readable materials, and again i can name so much here, I would be ashamed.
now, you have to go back and forth with each seller individually to ensure highest quality product
but your getting feedback from some, shade from others, constantly, fire fire fire fire fire all day trying to get this done

@solemn laurel That 30 packs assumption isn't true because we only seeing a handful of assets released per week. Given an asset pack wouldn't even take 1 hour to review, not sure where they're spending their time.

so you have to take those with a grain of salt
we sellers are partially part of this community because its our job, we interact to sell, to promote, and to be liked to improve our sales. we get flack if our packages suck, we hear people ignoring the marketplace because the content quality is poor in some people their eyes, we actively talk to potential buyers, and help sellers with issues. if you cant take the "fire fire fire" you should probably find another job, or proactively take some courses to learn how to deal with that without it affecting your work.

I have seen Epic ignoring sellers for long time and responding immediately as soon as someone yells in public. @delicate dove knows better.

i always try to make any pack I make to be at the top of my current standard, and I expect at least the curators to uphold that standard.

We've done everything for +3 years.
we give advice, point out issues with buyers and sellers, heck we helped set up the current guidelines (which where rushed by the mp team since we still and pages and pages of things that didnt sound, feel, or where written down right)
and instead of taking the advice, requests, and suggestions to heart, they are gonna sound out another survey, while barely anything was done with the previous one
Ok, so the first thing I'd suggest is stop acting reactively every time someone has a bad experience, approaching these situations with fire and flame does not work in the end. Collect the complaints and find the common denominator that is the root of the issue. Then, make a polite yet firm post on the forums, specifically in the creator's hub with what you have, why you feel that way, confirmations from others (STILL POLITE AND PROFESSIONSAL - sorry this can't be stated enough as that is the main problem I see generally). Suggest changes that are realistic and doable, or suggest a pathway they could follow.
and I know that blame cant be put on the mp team alone, its the higherups

that's not it, I'm just saying don't rain hell down on the team that's in the front lines when a peaceful yet firm approach not only will get you more of what you want, but it will help resolve the situation faster

they might, but you cannot expect people to believe they read that if nothing changes or no replies have been given

because that's how you encourage people NOT to start fires
I do believe that raging etc isnt the way to go, and I'll be the first to admit I like to stir the pot. but thats mainly because the lack of replies, updates, and improvements

We've all been begging epic with absolute politeness and flowers for a long time. While we all agree most mp issues have roots in higher positions, even the guys in frontlines don't do the smallest things they can do to improve anything even if that's something as simple as drinking water. They put fire in their own hay cart instead and have made the entire community angry. Once you get to where we are atm you will see and understand my words.
That might be a good point to expand upon with the community team there @delicate dove. I have a lot of respect for you and your work, and I know they do as well.

@solemn laurel For example they would reject packs for 2-3 years for not having 0 connected to metallic material pin. But they wouldn't never listen when we pointed them to their own documentation saying you should no connect a 0 to metallic. That's how mp people work.

that's why I'm saying wording matters. Your points are all valid, my concern is making sure they are heard without crushing any meaningful change with angry hearts
and I have respect for the marketplace team, even if me and i.e. josh clash sometimes I honestly think he is handling it all rather well. and that goes for most mp people I interact with. but the way the overall situation has been handled for the past year leaves a bad taste in our mouth sadly. and yea, the frontlines get the most flack and to be honest, thats worrying since the people who need to hear it either dont receive it, or ignore it.
I haven't really interacted with Josh much since I left Epic, but I think while it may take time the future is looking brighter for the MP as a whole.

Unless you're directly talking to a person live, neither flattery or flame will get you anywhere. You can wait. Chances are many things are solved by waiting and not the commotion that occurs during the wait. On the other hand, commotion does do things like getting certain assets withdrawn, even if it doesn't solve the problem that allowed the asset to slip through the cracks.

Does anyone care about (Windows) 32-bit support nowadays? Eg. is it even worth adding support for in modern times where almost everyone is using a 64 bit CPU, especially in the more high-end sector (that may be playing UE4 games)
people still have 32 bit processors? ๐
I'm sure there must be someone out there, but I'm pretty sure most things have switched to 64 bit for like 10+ years now....heck, even Apple's MacBook switched somewhere in 2006 ๐

(Though there does seem to be hope as most of the issues/requests we've been having were in the survey, so they must be on Epic's radar)
Writing great docs is something that appears to have helped me here too, especially in not being overloaded with people not understanding things/needing help. But that's mainly for plugins/blueprint assets and may not apply to other assets. And yeah, the overview map (and a screenshot of it in your product) should help too, but I really don't have to deal with overview stuff now I'm (almost exclusively) selling plugins
For the plugin creators in here - if you guys support Linux, do you test if it works as a Linux dedicated server too, or just plug it into the editor & test it? (& do a regular package test ofc)
I'd say they have probably made a รงustom licensing deal with those peole + I'm not sure what Unity's cut is like, but if it's 30% like Epic's cut is, giving a 20% discount doesn't lead to a loss & probably still covers the operating costs/etc. associated with the asset

it's very inflexible, so you'd have a hard time making it do anything other than basically play MtG

you need to break things down into appropriate 'components' (not necessarily in the Unreal sense)
i.e you have a core game state machine, in which there are defined game states for turn and sub-turn structure
you need a proper event stacking mechanism
said event stack needs to be totally generic

I like how hearthstone is designed.
In hs cards generally just basic classes and everything else like a spells/buffs
Basically cards casting spells, effects those spells core mechanism coded, but card possible spells / effects come from database
Adding new card with existing effect but different values is easy because you just need add to db
Hearthstone's hard-coded card types makes it painfully inconsistent though
their stack fails and you get weird inconsistencies between cards that should interact the same way, but for whatever reason don't

they're awful when it comes to consistency
as an example, if you have a Starving Buzzard (Whenever you summon a Beast, draw a card.) and play Tinkmaster Overspark (Battlecry: Transform another random minion into a 5/5 Devilsaur or a 1/1 Squirrel.), Buzzard will trigger and you draw a card. If you use Polymorph (Transform a minion into a 1/1 Sheep.), you don't.
Now the text says "Whenever you summon a Beast", but neither card summons a Beast, it transforms an existing minion
in any case, two cards that do the same thing yield opposite results

Pretty much related isn't actually related, but just some "random" assets....just like featured isn't actually featured, but is random assets put forward by their authors

(May improve when tags get added though, especially if they get used sensibly and an asset tagged with dialogue will show other assets with dialogue (or synonims?) in the related content

The benifit of having a plugin take super long in review is you can do multiple iteration of your documentation & get feedback from other people you know for all of those iterations resulting in the best docs I can write ๐

usually you as a seller are responsible for handling that if you sell into EU countries, I don't really know the law that well if there's some limit for smaller foreign businesses selling to EU

but of course when dealing with marketplace like Epic's, you always risk buying things people didn't have permit to sell to you
they usually take those out eventually, if someone reports them
and I've heard they've reported such event now to at least one customer, but my own experience has been opposite, so be cautious on anything you buy from there :p
(they didn't report to buyers in past if they had bought pirated content, I really hope they now do that for each customer in such case)
safest assets are UE4 specific, like blueprint code, as it's done for UE4
but have been cases where people have sold others free assets too
or things made from freely available UE4 tutorials

There was an item that was marked as not for commerical use but it's been taken down now.
I think generally those items dont last long on the marketplace so its not something yo should be worried about too much. and in the case where such an item suddenly dissapears you can ask the mp team whats up and in the worst case get a refund.

You'll generally tend to get a ton of sales, but due to the potential sales lost & the way smaller revenue/sale it's probably only a little more, but I could be wrong
But yeah - when having pretty large discounts my revenue does skyrocket compared to an average month, but the month(s) after is always a huge pain
I'd rather get a rating or two out of it than large sales
Interested in getting my hands on the sale data though

@shadow inlet it's not a problem with duplicated items but with random position of assets, every time I refresh website (on the same page), there are see different items! If it's random, it's why some people see "duplicated items" because sometimes the same item were drawn on the page for example 4 and later on the page 17.

Every seller is supposed to receive the invites for event sales.
However, due to the way they are worded, they always either end up in my spam folder, or in GMail's 'Promotions' category.

Epic Fail 
I'm interested in submitting 2 code plugins and I'd like to hear what were people's experience with the process in the last half a year or so. Epic dragged my first plugin submission for almost 6 months, while also being partly animated by my borderline inappropriate e-mails and reaching out to staff members in person. Mainly, I'd like to know if the submission times have been reduced and secondly, if the reviewers are still as badly underqualified to reject it based on quirks (i.e. typos in comments). Thanks!
Recently I heard somebodies had been held up for a few months because the reviewer kept unzipping the new versions of the plugin over an old version without deleting the old version.
Haha. That just fits so perfectly with my image of the kind of thing that goes on inside Epic's MP submisson system ๐
plugin submission should be a bit more streamlined nowadays, but there are still weird occurences where packs are accepted or rejected because the reviewer woke up on the wrong side of the bed
