Do you put the high poly scans up for sale anywhere?
You should consider putting them up on places like CGTrader. I use bone scans for stamps/brushes when sculpting and good ones are hard to find

Well, I have to make a networked project to test my own stuff, so I'll try to use UWorks in it as well.
My friend that does audio would probably stop being my friend. lol
Let me know how it goes compared to not using it and just SteamSDK.
(From what I can tell is UWorks is just the wrapper that implements everything from the SDK to BP/C++ better.)

you can get some insights and ideas for your own system
but even for the purpose of learning it's not the best example
for a single player it might be ok.. depending on what you want from it

Characters not rigged to the proper skeleton, animations missing IK bones, and blueprints being dumpster fires are the big 3 issues for me atm
Well, just general examples include, packs that add the whole /StarterContent/ pack into my project, or have content outside of the content Content/#PackName/ that arent used yet do exist in the download

Wait....those are horrible QA slips ๐ค. They're usually quite strict about those things
Ironbelly weapons are always split across several folders, y-forward instead of x, and use a strange and bloated naming convention, but they seem immune to QA
When I last submitted blueprints they where really strict about folder structures, and I'm not quite sure what the example content guidelines are, I believe it's discouraged
Some packs had such deep folder and naming that it exceeded windows maximum path length haha, and my root project folder wasn't deep itself.

I got some kind of inventory system once, discovered it used set item slots because the guy didn't know how to use loops correctly and was adding 4 copies of an item into the inventory array every time you picked up something.

Good, but yeah, I generally don't buy a lot of blueprints either, the only reason I buy them is to learn a new technique really, or templates, because they save you SO much work on a small prototype

from a buyers perspective i ended up buying some stuff without checking properly... and not buying stuff i would have bought had i had the chance to compare it to other similar offerings

I wonder how well blueprint packs do on here? Anytime I try to do a programming project it ends up as a plugin due to BP's limitations.

BP nodes do get changed a lot
new engine versions can break them on occasion
and customers need a lot more help with blueprint projects
most of them are priced lower then art assets, even tho they take way more hours
people don't value them as much, for some reason
probably the erroneous belief that "bah, I could put that together myself if I had enough time"
tbh most of them aren't of a good enough quality to warrant a proper price

Generic Shooter is okay, but it's poorly compartmentalised, so it's tricky to strip out features you don't want

@pearl oceana by 'AAA quality code' i meant something that's fully fleshed out and designed properly, which you could drop in a 'AAA' quality game and it would hold up
you can just delete the nodes on the left, and the rest is the part you want to work with
no need to dive through a load of unrelated UI widgets, various other BPs that it relies on to handle settings etc
removing hats from Generic Shooter however would involve touching something like half of the core classes D:
right.. which is why i consider Generic shooter okay at best for learning
try to make a game out of it and you'll run into a bunch of unecessary problems
that would be non-existent with a different design
one way to avoid that is to do like epic does with the engine
they develop games with it, and that in turn improves the engine a lot
I'm just glad that apparently Luos has never bought one of my packs...hurt, but glad too ๐
I can't speak on GS, but as someone with a template on the marketplace myself - I strive to put as many options and switches all in one place (the controller components) so that people can easily disable/enable as many of the features in my template as possible. That said... comparing a noise generation BP to a full ready-to-use template in terms of modularity might be a little unfair ๐
before I'd buy anything on the mp for a game I am working on, or if a client decides to buy anything I'd assess the package, is it worth as a base? can we iterate on it? will it actually save us the time we'd like to save or will we need to basically recreate it
for vfx that's enough if you have lot's of experience doing this stuff, and you're pretty much doing it for a living
by now I have almost all vfx packs, and almost all have at least a partial overhaul for more functionality and modularity
i.e. bloodpack where you cant change the color of the blood wut :p
its a great pack, but why not spend a few minutes to add a parameter for blood color
luckily i'm one of those that wouldnt want to change blood color, because i know how hard it is to get it just right

I worked with a team of about 15 of my customers testing my template during development of it. That helped me immensely in catering to varied use ๐
and i'll be the first to admit, looking at my previous packages I should have worked cleaner and added easy to-tweak parameters. but well.. part of getting more experience
The more you work in the marketplace and such, the better you get at all that stuff. For sure.

for example someone didnt care about proper orientation for their gun pack
sure i can fix it easily, it just takes me an hour
the author is non-responsive or doesnt care or does not have any plans for update
so let's say 100 people bought the pack.. that's 100 hours spent on fixing the orientation
if he took feedback or tried to place the weapon on a rigged to epic skel char he'd catch the problem
makes me wish we could align the cylinder location module to camera. that would make my life sooooo much better. that way I wont have people tell me the effect isnt aligning outomatically and me not having to say "do it trough blueprint" :p

i was thinking more of an indirect collab.. everyone publishes their work themselves.. the benefit is cross promotion
someone buying a character can see an environment, props, weapons etc that already fits
i see some creators promoting their products via their social media reach
eventually you exhaust your options, and are promoting to people that already have most of your stuff (hopefully)
partnering up on a project like that you could cross promote and reach another crowd

no need to try that pack, a material like that is made in a few minutes, and there is no such thing as a material blueprint :p we call them materials

I don't know about this specific image, but recently image importers (on gmail and here at least) are delirious. A concept artist sent me a character with a purple outfit and light pink skin, and in Discord it showed as electric blue outfit with grey skin.

Google drive allows 15GB, and if your project is larger than the t that it may play a role in whether or not it's accepted

Hey guys, no, it's not that big really - 1.5gb in total. We were just hoping to be able to throw it onto our ftp server so we'd have a permanent solution for all packs to come, but we'll settle for gdrive or Dropbox and see if that does the trick. Thanks for your input! :)

So did the Cyber Monday sale actually last for 2 days? My sales reports show both the 27th and the 28th as sale price purchases. I'm not upset, just curious (the more sales, the better obviously).
Not really sure. I also received CB sales on both reports. There were people on the forums complaining about the sale ending before they finished checking out.
That could also be due to time zone differences? I saw the same thing on my report.

Ratings should be attached to a review, so people can judge the validity of it based on the content. But... We have more or less a zero percent rating attachment rate as it is so Idk

Theres a number of people who very clearly do it - like I sai d- you only need to pay attention to products on the day they release. If they get 10 5 star ratings within 1-2 hours, you can bet that there's probably a chunk of those that aren't entirely above board, especially if they seller doesn't have an immensely successful product that might have garnered them a following (though arguably those ratings are debatedly not legitimate either lol)

(I released a platformer that I pulled within like 24 hours or so as it was horribly received - I thought it offered some unique features people may want, but oh boi was I wrong. Hope this template fares better ^^ :P)
The asset does look pretty solid though, with all of the parts that you would need for a basic platformer, including some awesome things like a key system or something like that ๐ Provided assets also look good enough for a quick prototype I'd suppose - I've seen worse ๐
I wouldn't call it bad programming art, it's just the presentation - the text on one of the screenshots is partially black, and half of it is in a shadow, meaning it's quite hard to read
Annotating the screenshots for example would make a huge difference - but I agree, there are a few art-like things that could use a small improvement, but I suppose it's a toolkit, which shouldn't just be copied and thrown on steam ๐
the first pic says you can interact with some objects, but the interaction isn't really clear as to what you're doing...I'm assuming he's pushing the box?

In Unreal Engine 1 you could create a space entirely out of subtractive brushes. All outside space would be considered filled. Not possible now.
well arguably you could just make a giant brush that was the equivalent of 65536 UE1 UUs and go at it? I dunno how you'd go with performance though given that BSP isn't the primary method of anything anymore
Geometry brushes are compiled into static meshes now. The resulting performance problem is that the result is converted into hundreds, sometimes thousands of meshes, rather than an easily processed BSP tree. Plus side is... there is no plus side.
plus side is the static mesh pipeline in general lol
That's not really a plus side when the geometry brushes aren't a part of that pipeline.

unlikely google drive is causing issues. But you could try dropbox, mega, or your own hosting

I tend to have a fair amount of content that's loaded dynamically
It shows up in the reference viewer even if it's referenced solely in script IIRC. I could be wrong (happens a lot), but I think it's designed to take any reference to the actor/material/thing by any other thing, regardless of whether it is a dynamic or static call to it.

(until it has been loaded)

I have noticed that creating good documentation (with troubleshooting steps) helps decrease the time you need to spend answering support tickers - so I'd deffo reccomend spending a good chunk of time on your docs before releasing to (new) sellers ^^

No idea. I would rather it stay the way it is than go back to having a per image cap that low.

or they could implement external links for uploading images? f.e imgur

@robust vector you could just use .jpg at max quality and have many pictures, hardly a difference to the average eye
bad choice of lighting makes it worse then jpeg compression
Yeah, but all my images have bad lighting, so I don't want to stack compression on top of that
I make my .pngs the maximum file size because Epic should be better
it's good on the stock but the barrel is all dark, specialy the sawed off version
1MB is more than enough per image
png compression has gotten pretty ridiculous
