how to package game with assets that are actually used in map, not a bunch of other assets sitting in other folders?
Migrate would probably work, but is there other method?
i started a project and never had time to finish it. ripppp

in package settings
and then it only package the content referenced by those maps

currently I've removed plugins, no matter what I did, ue4 builder had issues with them. That way errors got so far reduced to some blueprints errors because of FMOD leftovers, I'm waiting for team to fix it and try packaging again

Ive had an issue where perforce files were being checked in as the wrong format and now all the source code is garbled utf 😿 trying to roll back and recompile

Very excited I just now submitted my first ever game jam entry but of course I’m noticing the little mistakes only when I have too little time to fix them before midnight. If I come back tomorrow and update the Itchio project is that allowed?

Premade assets - like Marketplace packs and such - are allowed, they just don't count towards your score.

yeah, disable precomputed lighting in world settings if you haven't already
so nothing can sneak into static accidentally

@tranquil matrix in this jam/future jams are the judging crew going to automatically remove/ignore the prereqs installer for the sake of tiny award?
it's so big that it turns the challenge of fitting stuff into a tiny space to finding (and remembering) the right thing to delete

Maybe people were discussing that for the small game category, the not-zipped version has to be under 100mb. You can still zip it, but you cant make a larger game fit into the category just by zipping it.

For the first few days file size was going DOWN as we added assets 🤣

Gives you 40 whole mb to work with
I just built a blank project
the red button is not built properly
and it was 189 mb lmao
Sky texture in a blank project is like 15mb
might confuse others
And compression disabled by default

Of course your headroom will vary, but is likely to be very limited.

- disable prereq installer
- enable pak compression
Building 32 vs 64 is what kept us under the limit near the end too
Yep, building for 32-bit Shipping is a big win.

goddamn internet. My internet decided to drop in the last hour. My only saving grace was that I still had some mobile data and my mobo has wifi so i managed to use the mobile data from my phone to upload my build

@broken cedar Looks like those assets were saved in a newer version of the engine. The only way to build that project is to make a copy and build it in the newer version, I'm guessing 4.23.

- Open the start menu, type "environment" and you should get an option to "Edit the system environment variables."
- You should be on the Advanced tab when it opens. Click on Environment Variables at the bottom.
- In the "User variables for <your name>" box, select Path then click Edit below that.
- You'll see a list of file paths here. On the right, click New, then copy/paste the path to your butler.exe to add it.
- Once you do this, you should be able to summon butler from any folder, including your game directory.

I did some custom networking, soo much fun
I learned a bit more blender, found the haptic feedback for VR motion controllers and some other little things

Lesson to be learned: when solo jamming, start with very simple 3D models. I've spent most of the jam on modeling, UV-ing, texturing and rigging a cat model.
