i'm feeling good. But I didnt do anything literally for the Otherside of the Coin I did something based on how games are normally played now.
Like I don't want to see it a long time
Most people now adays pay alot of money to be the best in a game, be it hacks, or buying the best armor, or buying a pre-leveled toon.
My concept was backwards, spending money makes you weaker, but your large scale attacks cost money
As you gain money you become more powerful

Hoping today to have the majority of it finished so I can add-in the WebService Xd trying to make it dynamic and interesting where your battling against other player's Followers via internet platforms. :d
I'm working on a platforming infinite runner where you need to collect money to survive, experience enjoyable moments (as pickups), face obstacles (as hazards), and regulate the character's mood by jumping on platforms corresponding to different socio-economic classes. Landing on the upper class platform increases mood but decreases the value of enjoyable moments. Money drains at an exorbitant rate while in the upper class. Landing in the lower class ground level decreases mood but increases the value of enjoyable moments. Money expenditure is low at the lower class. Mulling some other ideas as well.

the eco system lives
it lives on both sides of the coin!
what you do to one side, affects the other, try to balancve it and gather resources to send back home
you will have seeds and a seed bank to plant from, as well the plants reproduce based on their levels
lots of stuff on screen to clean up but everything is working at least
you can see it live on my stream atm:
the end goal will be to gather resources from your eco system to fill bulk order deeds back home. then home will send you care packages but when ever a care pacakage is sent, something else will happen to the other side
as well what happens may be positive or negative
so everything has a 50/50 chance kind of, or happens to both sides then that other side has a chance to roll a positive or negative effect as well to apply to it
and the two ecosystems are on big coin sides right?
ah yes, on this side of the coin, we can send care packages, but on the other side of the coin, something bad may happen on the other side of the coin
i see we're both hitting the theme metaphorically and literally 😄

the seeds are even two sided:
you can swap the sides but when you plant a seed on one side, it will pant the other plant on the other side

a easy way to make a fast timelapse video with clips in between is to make a bunch of clips while you are live of moments that you think would be good and then you can use those clips to place over the timelapse video ^^

when i double click on a BSP face it doesnt select it anymore it just like makes it orange with an outline, anyone experience this before?

you need to be in the correct angle to select the faces. change the editor camera postion.
this tab needs to be selected as well, there are shortcuts for that. shift+5 to fasten things up.

@unique glen My current package size is about 72 MB. Granted, the game is pretty simple.
i'm really trying hard to get it down to that size
went through the entire reducing package size page
can only manage to get it to about 140 mb, i'm not sure if maybe i could reduce texture sizes but i'm only using like 6 textures. i don't know what it is that's taking up so much

AFAIK you can update builds as many times as you want. It will be locked by itch.io interface once the timer is out. Submission info still can be edited after with no restrictions.

PSA to anyone not in the know:
- you can use butler to do diff/incremental uploads (may be a bit late to setup no if you have not already)
- you can submit early, and edit your submission later
^Probably the best benefit from butler during game jams.
Every new build only uploads changed files, so they're quicker than the initial push.
my game is ~3GB to upload, first push took 6 hrs. new pushes take 3 mins

my ai behavior tree is broken in the packaged version
i think this is related to a similar problem i had with behavior trees a long time ago
if it is, i dont get to submit my game :\
i usually jinx myself when i celebrate early but I FIGURED IT OUT
more than a year ago i had this weird problem with behavior tree decorators, they would throw errors during packaging and not function in packaged games even if i got passed the error
it came back, but it was surprisingly easier to fix now than it was before

@dapper ivy You have to upload your project to your Dashboard (the submission link takes you there as well). Once you've set your game to "Public" and it says "Published" next to your game on your Project Dashboard, you can then submit it using the "Submit your project" button on the game jam page.

Also good to be a fairly continus section of gameplay, rather than cutting around and using special effects

@rotund quartz I feel you, I was using the Actor Sequence for some animations, then I realised they were not working in build, so I spent the last hour fixing the bugs that created and replacing with timelines, then failed to submit the project because I did not write my email in the form 😅 😭

@azure flicker ahh that sucks, if you can prove you packaged it before the deadline you can still get it submitted. Thats what i did for the February jam, showed a timestamp of when i packaged and they gave me a late submission link
If it's for judging, I don't like post-submission time uploads.
But, otherwise, if there could be a way to separate that. It could make the whole thing better overall.

Actually @normal magnet , I think there was two places to submit. One was directly on the https://itch.io/jam/2019-spring-ue4jam-marketplace-takeover page, at top. The other was around your project I think

Itch.io requires you to upload the game and publish it to your personal page. You can then submit it to the jam on the game jam page, but only during the submission period.

I usually make another folder somewhere called Content, migrate the used maps into that, delete the old Content from the project and put in the one I migrated to into the old project, that way I don't have to reimport all my ini files, redo inputs, start a whole new project. works 90% of the time, every time

@pulsar owl probably, but I run out of ideas on like 5th level. I had to edit the level selection screen just to remove a bunch of pre-allocated buttons.
maybe you could have the numbers add up and stick together when they stack, and add a couple other symbols to replace the numbers... but I can see how the level design would take a while. .. you could also have negatives and then say if the numbers add up to 0 the coin disappears.

Sadly a lot of things didn't make it into the game. There were supposed to be more levels and abilities. But uh... Too much to do, little time to do it all.
I wanted movement on one hand, combat on mouse.

@rigid fog Isubmitted around 11:20. After seeing this I attempted to upload the file again and by then the time had passed for submissions.
I personally didn't have any issues with submitting. Like you, I started "earlier" than trying to submit 5 minutes before deadline. Even then... Doing Itch page then Jam submission forms took a lot longer than I thought it would. So next time, I'll definitely probably start 2 hours earlier.
190 others were also able to submit
last time I did the jam, I submitted one version about 12 hours ahead of time, then uploaded a better version about 45 minutes ahead of time
but I'm not actually sure the better version made it onto the jam page

can do headshots and full trough middle of body
takes some setup but all those systems do
gunna put this on my itch too i think when i get home, its my 2nd best general public game
my best is I am Boris 😄
but i was able to setup this system in manuel bastoni lab, so i could generate pre setup for dismember characters with the generator
but than u also have clothing if making zombies
so u have full UV on UV1 and UV2 holds the mask spots u comebine with texture cropping
most is done in material
the dismember is break bone constraint, not scale bone 0 and spawn an arm
so u wont have a full mesh and 30 other loose parts
both systems have ups and downs tho
that marketplace pack uses color textures to mask or something, but if u listen to luos from time to time u can do better than that
just watch the vid i set that up during a jam
