For me personally with my job experience and education and being a white male with US citizenship, it is better living in Shenzhen or Shanghai than in the US.
That does not at all mean I think that all Chinese people in all of China are happy. I live as a foreigner doing a job only foreigners do, so my experience does not at all represent what it is like to be an average Chinese person.

My core goal is to have the player feel like he/she is in the shoes of the character. That the player is having to deal with things from the perspective of that character's personality. The player doesn't get to change who the character is or isn't, but works through the shortcoming of that character's personality to lead that character to the best choice.
Each character you can play as should feel like a totally different experience to control. Totally new set of problems and potential. Like picking up different guitars, not each one is suited for the same thing. Or like driving a Jeep vs a Corvette, each one has an area it is much better at.
