Not yet.

#

A month.

#

I decided to get stuff for my new apartment, since it is mostly empty.

primal spoke
#

minimalist style?

north torrent
#

I just moved here 2 days ago.

#

Was in quarantine.

#

My other apartment is on the campus of a school which is quarantined off. So I can't just get a moving truck and bring my stuff here.

#

2020 is odd...

primal spoke
#

if LK doesn't file for BK, might be worth looking into.

north torrent
#

They might have just got their boost in sales...

primal spoke
#

They did, but its for people wanting deep discounted items before they cannot honor them.

median wraith
#

Whats going on with google today ?

north torrent
#

My life was already odd before, not it has just gotten twice as odd.

primal spoke
#

if sales continue when discounts are gone...thats good.

#

@median wraith google it.

median wraith
#

1 whole hour and the youtube video under 300mb didn't upload

#

same with the video as file at google drive

north torrent
#

I think I'm going to get Chinese Muslim BBQ.

primal spoke
#

restaurant stocks are soaring Mao!

north torrent
#

Will it last?

primal spoke
#

Chinese Muslim BBQ. might be a good buy.

#

Will it last?
@north torrent no, of course not.

#

Some people will take profits.

north torrent
#

Stocks are a bit high now, and I expect things to get worse before it gets better.

primal spoke
#

IDK man, if you look that charts you can see the uncertainty selloff clear as day.

#

IK some stocks will get worse of course.

#

I'm gonna show a chart real quick

#

This is what most stocks look like.

north torrent
#

Either way, I'm not going to jump until next month. If things are low next month.

If I miss it, I miss it.

primal spoke
#

The rapid dip is covid 19

#

afk

north torrent
#

If things aren't low enough to be worth buying in a month, I'll just buy a few Nintendo Switches...

#

Or a bunch of tuna.

#

Or a wheel of expensive cheese.

zinc matrix
#

my code is very messy

#

and i have to proceed

#

creating more messy code

#

THE problem is I lack EXPERIENCE creating MMO games...

#

so even if i will finish it, i wont optimize it properly because i dont know better

north torrent
#

Your second MMO will be more optimized than your first

summer tulip
#

yea just make 10 or so and ur gud

north torrent
#

MMO number 10 might make you some money.

sage tendon
#

Or, just do like those .io online games, fake the multiplayer :3

rotund tundra
#

faked mp, really?

sage tendon
#

start playing it with all those friendly people, plug ISP cable out of the router and behold the black magic of offline online gaming

rotund tundra
#

hmmm.. i played one of those before

#

was actually impressed how well it runs over the net lol

plucky pagoda
#

A local lab just opened with antibody tests. $77 a test.

north torrent
#

How will they get filthy rich?

#

Costco margins I guess. Sell volume over making money off margins.

plucky pagoda
#

Because I'm looking at that supplier and it costs them $275 to buy 20 of them.

pearl elk
#

I made 10 MMOs once

plucky pagoda

10% less if they are buying 200 or more at a time

north torrent

I was trying to figure out why this game cost $120... then I realized it was in Japanese Yen not Chinese Yuan...

zinc matrix
#

@sage tendon lmao i hated some iogames give humanish names to bots. took me few days to figure im playing vs AI

#

but yeah my mmo will be .IO web version

north torrent
#

I found a new mao, Mr. Olympus.

sage tendon
#

@zinc matrix You know that UE4 HTML5 is discontinued right?

plucky pagoda
#

There's a community supported fork for it.

rotund tundra
#

will it be replaced by something else in the future?

plucky pagoda
#

I think I'm about to buy $1000 worth of antibody tests. 100 tests.

north torrent
#

Do it.

plucky pagoda
#

That's the minimum order.

north torrent
#

What is your favorite game that can run on an old laptop, Mr. Silvinski?

plucky pagoda
#

Hmmm

#

Probably Factorio. It's not that old but IMO one of the best games ever made because of the complexity of its systems and how well thought out they are. It has its flaws but

#

it's on my short list of best games ever.

#

Evil Genius is fun too

tulip orbit

Should be able to handle older 3d games.

plucky pagoda
#

I don't know what the law is here. I can buy these, but I don't know if I can resell them even if it's at cost.

#

I'm not sure I can give them away and still spend that much.

#

Maybe.

#

It's not much different than the at home blood type kits you can sell.

north torrent
#

It's a test and not medication... so you should be able to sell them, but I don't know shit about law, so don't listen to me.

plucky pagoda
#

Yeah. I'm not sure.

tulip orbit
#

Damnit! I just realised the grocery pickup isnt scheduled until the 14th.... I thought it was today

plucky pagoda
#

Walmart is the only place near us still doing pick up within 24 hours.

#

They're doing no contact pick up

#

Kroger is 7 days out.

tulip orbit
#

some of the items I'm ok with waiting on, but others not so much. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

#

the advantage of the order was that I was going in with my sister, and I was doing the pickup for them, and she was gonna pay for my groceries ๐Ÿ˜„

thin storm
#

what is "grocery pickup"?

plucky pagoda
#

Place your order online, make an appointment, show up and they bring it to your car.

thin storm
#

hey thats cool

#

I have to get everything myself.

plucky pagoda
#

I'm getting the feeling my wife doesn't find the idea of spending $1000 on these tests to be as wonderful an idea as I do.

thin storm
#

on corona test or what?

plucky pagoda
#

anitbody tests for covid19

thin storm
#

if you not 80 years old, I would not to be concerned about corona.

plucky pagoda
#

Why?

thin storm
#

you get very sick for a few days and thats it, you can produce anitbodies yourself afterwards.

plucky pagoda
#

That's really not supported by the facts.

thin storm
#

yeah supports what Im saying. old people are the risk group.

#

if you young and healthy. you wont die.

plucky pagoda
#

That's simply not supported by fact.

#

There is more risk for older people but young people still die.

#

Young healthy people still die.

#

A lower percentage but not 0%.

soft night
#

never underestimate blood type affect

plucky pagoda
#

I've seen that.

#

Everyone in my house is o+ too

#

o+ seems like it might have less risk for complications.

thin storm
#

no one know if this "young and healthy" people you say were healthy. thats not in any statistic. so you dont have the facts to make that claim.

rotund tundra
#

so nobody knows if they are really healty

plucky pagoda
#

The paper I found though showed that the general pop had 33.84% of people with O type and the distribution among people sick with covid19 was 25.8%.

rotund tundra
#

it's a known fact that some viruses are very blood type dependant.. have no idea about covid19

plucky pagoda
#

@thin storm If your claim is that no one knows if they are young and healthy then you undermine your own claim that young and healthy people won't get very sick.

thin storm
#

nope thats not true. if young and healthy people would be effected as much there would be more death cases in that younger age group.

fluid bloom
#

btw do they use a ton of antibiotics in Italy?

plucky pagoda
#

I never claimed they were just as at risk. I only claimed there was a risk. You stated they were not.

fluid bloom
#

just wondering why their covid19 deaths are so high

rotund tundra
#

and is it a risk worth taking?

plucky pagoda
#

and even if there was 0 risk to that group they should still worry about it even if only to reduce the risk to the rest of the population.

rotund tundra
#

.. i live next to italy.. we have so far ~1000 confirmed cases and a few deaths, we acted quickly with strict distancing, whole public shut down with obligatory masks and gloves..

thin storm
#

hmm I dont know, but I trust my immune system more than the government.

sage tendon
#

Clearly you don't have kids

rotund tundra
#

amazing the ammount of ignorance on display...

sage tendon
#

else you wouldnt trust either ๐Ÿ˜›

soft night
#

are you sensing your body and improve your immune system?

#

i am hacking my immune system all the time

rotund tundra
#

the whole virus would go extinc if the whole world would isolate itself for 14 days.. instead we'll get a mutated outbreak in a few years time

fluid bloom
#

not everyone can isolate

rotund tundra
#

yeah, beacuse you need to go do your hair like the italians...

thin storm
#

in the end its a flu, thats every year. you only care because your government is telling you to.

rotund tundra
#

you only dont care because you haven't seen first hand the effects

fluid bloom
#

I'm evoking the okay gif

sage tendon
#

thousands dead, no vaccin, comparing it with normal flu while COVID-19 is not just a flu, lol

#

whats next, compairing it with traffic victems? ๐Ÿ˜„

fluid bloom
#

though the influenza is a virus borne disease just like korona

sage tendon

the other day a guy on FB posted that "people shouldnt isolate themself for this corona, more people die from hunger" and he got mad when I told him that hunger is not infectious :E

winter zealot
#

@sage tendon trying to talk common sense in #lounge can be tiring so you gotta do it but you can't do it all the time

#

because there's a constant need to explain what's up

summer tulip
#

whats up

winter zealot
#

when it's not explaining why shovelwares aren't the problem, it's explaining that covid 19 isn't just a flu and protection is needed etc

plucky pagoda
#

You can't debate with someone who first attacks the facts and when that doesn't work then attacks the motives of the person stating them.

winter zealot
#

very true sadly

#

or like, it's a sign that when someone changes from attacking the arguments to attacking the person... this someone understands that he's wrong on this, but doesn't want to admit it

#

i mean, sure i'm just a person... i get wrong sometimes too... it's just that I admit it and then I change my mind, no big deal

plucky pagoda
#

Being able to change your position based on new information is probably one of the best qualities someone can have in life and in dev work. I know I'm wrong a lot but I try to admit it as soon as I realize.

winter zealot
#

imo it's super easy to do ๐Ÿ˜… i'm sure that people could do it more often

plucky pagoda
#

Idk, it's easy to let ego or personal biases get in the way. I try and assume I'm wrong a lot and then look to see if there's proof.

winter zealot
#

i remember I was dead set against asserts... then I looked at the imgui sourceode, seen that there was asserts in it... except that imgui never crashes so well... after having talked lots of crap against asserts I changed my mind... asserts can be used without being a problem

plucky pagoda
#

Every time I think I'm good at making games I find something that makes me feel like an idiot.

winter zealot
#

what's important imo isn't being right, what's important is having the right info, no matter what that is

plucky pagoda
#

Like maps. I've been really under using maps.

#

Yeah, all over the place the thing that is becoming most valuable is the ability to obtain and assess a wide range of information quickly.

winter zealot
#

i'd say i'm an idiot with delays ๐Ÿ˜„ never too good at managing these ๐Ÿ˜Š so i'm like... " i need other ppls expert opinions on this "

plucky pagoda
#

Which is the case for developers, doctors and others. It use to be who knew the most but now that the information is mostly a web search away it's more important to be able to find information and then know what to dismiss and what to use.

winter zealot
#

yeah indeed

thin storm
#

its not worth to debate it, your attitude is already to throw everyone into prison for saying its a flu, which in fact it is.

winter zealot
#

the facts are hospitals are overloaded with patients and it's much more deadly than a flu

thin storm
#

how many people died last year from the flu?

winter zealot
#

there are not enough respirators to treat everyone, because it's not a flu

#

was there ever a flu that saturated every hospital ever ?

thin storm
#

there are doctors who say people die because of the respirators.

sage tendon
#

You know that a virus evolves, its not the flu

winter zealot
#

how so ? I don't understand, links to articles confirming this ?

thin storm
#

but like I said there is no point for debate. do some research and you find doctors who have a different opinion on how danger this is.

plucky pagoda
#

Flag on play, appeal to anonymous authority. Penalty.

winter zealot
#

whats next mentatz, will you say that jordan peterson says that treating the flu is part of an ideology ?

sage tendon
#

Saying COVID19 just a flu is like saying water is not dangerous at all

bronze axle
#

COVID-19 has similar flu-like symptoms, but it's caused by a different virus than the flu. It's important not to confuse the two.

winter zealot
#

or that ben shapiro will say that the virus will go away if people work extremely hard at mac donalds ?

sage tendon
#

IC's make over hours and fight for places, must be nothinf

mossy nexus
#

COVID-19 is a novel coronavirus. Influenza is caused by the influenza virus.

sage tendon
#

@thin storm search hard enough and you find docters specialized in E.T's anatomy.. dont trust internet quotes from einstein

mossy nexus
#

Common colds are also coronaviruses but not as contagious or deadly.

plucky pagoda
#

We have some immunity to them. Novel means new. This is new to us so there is no immunity at all.

mossy nexus
#

Then you have the mortality rates between the flu and COVID-19. Approx 0.1% vs 3%. So yeah there are huge differences.

bronze axle
#

There is still much debate over the mortality rate of COVID-19.

winter zealot
#

yeah and it's more contagious than the flu isn't it ? so 3% of coronavirus is more than 3% of the flu

plucky pagoda
#

A lot of the debate about it comes down to IFR vs CFR.

bronze axle
#

It's anywhere between 0.6% - 4% depending on the expert you talk to.

winter zealot
#

( I don't know if it's more contagious or not btw just that it's much more dangerous )

mossy nexus
#

Secondary infections are also very common with COVID-19, which can also lead to more deaths. Pneumonia being one.

plucky pagoda
#

IFR is the Infection Rate Fatality ratio and CFR is the Confirmed Case Fatality Ratio. The last time I looked those were 1% and 3%.

bronze axle
#

That seems to be where most of the deaths are coming from: secondary infections or exacerbated underlying conditions.

mossy nexus
#

It's a bit like AIDS in that regard. AIDS isn't fatal, but it's effects are.

zinc matrix
#

hi

#

how to find women

plucky pagoda
#

The way I look at it is the thing is nasty, it can kill anyone (even if for some the probabilities are low), we have no treatments for it, and all we have to do to probably save lives is take it seriously and do whatever we can to help stop spreading it.

sage tendon
#

@zinc matrix you download them

zinc matrix
#

not this kind of women

sage tendon
#

@zinc matrix oh, then study robotics for roughly 10 years and then build one

zinc matrix
#

plucky pagoda
#

The scary thing about it to me is the way it attacks the lungs and heart tissue. Then on top of that the way people die with this. No visitors are allowed. You go into an ICU and your family never sees you again.

zinc matrix
#

but she wont have a brain

#

then

bronze axle
#

@plucky pagoda Easy to do as long as your critical faculties are in order. ๐Ÿ˜‰

mossy nexus
#

I know that my paramedic friend here in the UK is basically saying just don't go out. The effect it's having on peoples lungs is like seeing miners lung from the 1800's.

bronze axle
#

Unfortunately, search engines often reinforce confirmation bias. Journalists have more responsibility than ever to make their best effort to report accurate information and leave their biases at the door, but that's clearly getting more and more difficult to do.

#

Ugh, I did that annoying thing where I hit Enter instead of the ' key.

#

lol

plucky pagoda
#

I'm still really upset about the way this was presented to the public in the US. They over played the whole 80% of people will be fine and down played that the other 20% have very serious problems.

#

That's what's made the big difference in Ohio, where I live, the Health Director went on TV early and was open about how bad it could be.

mossy nexus
#

That's the way your current administration deals with things like this though. Remember the line "and it will just go away.. like a miracle"

bronze axle
#

Yeah, our administration really botched the message; especially early on.

mossy nexus
#

Has Trump been on the TV yet to say don't go to Easter church etc?

bronze axle
#

I don't watch TV. ยฏ_(ใƒ„)_/ยฏ

mossy nexus
#

But think of all the advertisers you're missing ๐Ÿ˜„

bronze axle
#

Hahah I know, I'm a terrible a consumer.

plucky pagoda
#

The way I explained it to my kids was "Probably no on one we know has it but we can't be sure. If I assume we all have it and act like we do then worst case we spend some time apart. If I assume we're all fine and it turns out we're not someone could die."

#

That's how I think it should have been presented to the nation from the start.

mossy nexus
#

Unfortunately too many people think the rules don't apply to them, still going to parks, beaches, meeting friends etc. This isn't going to go away soon

carmine frigate
#

to be honest i think lil could have been done to stop it

#

its here, and its not goin away soon either

bronze axle
#

Well, our efforts are working.

plucky pagoda
#

The data doesn't support that. Places that implemented distancing and stay at home orders early have dramatically fewer cases.

bronze axle
#

So the evidence would suggest there is something that can be done.

carmine frigate
#

yea but you cant stay home forever

bronze axle
#

No one has asked us to stay home forever.

plucky pagoda
#

Ohio was projected to have close to 3k new cases a day by now, but they implemented distancing early and today it's closer to 500 total deaths being predicted.

mossy nexus
#

Did you see the heatmap of people who went to just one tiny bit of a beach in Florida during Spring Break?

carmine frigate
#

it only takes 1 to light it all up, and doesnt even have to be human

sage tendon
#

@bronze axle Some models show that the current effort compaired to no effort are close to equal in results (runtime and infection amount)

bronze axle
#

@sage tendon I'd like to see those models.

#

The actual numbers are declining in some countries.

sage tendon
#

I guessed that, will have to search it up :D

plucky pagoda
#

I've not seen anything like that. All the models I've seen make assumptions on distancing

mossy nexus
#

They tracked their phones to see the spread. It's horrifying to think that it could spread that far and fast. Equally horrifying to know how they can track each phone.

sage tendon
#

I have seen the numbers go up and down in NL, still between 1.13 and 1.23

plucky pagoda
carmine frigate
#

our numbers are crap tho, no1 gets tested

#

my sister came from austria and felt ill, thought it could be cornona , didnt get tested, that was with 10ish confirmed cases in holland

#

u totally drop the ball at that point

#

she got suggested to stay home a few days

#

but even at that point it was fairly hopeless allready

#

u cant down this to 0

mossy nexus
plucky pagoda
#

But that's a week old and we're doing better than those projections.

carmine frigate
#

both those graphs have same number of infections just spread out

bronze axle
#

Current projections here in Oregon are expecting the outbreak to peak this month.

sage tendon
#

@carmine frigate in the second week it was confirmedCases*6 for actual cases

#

Its what the GGD did

bronze axle
#

@carmine frigate That's the whole point. We know we're not going to reduce the number of cases. We're trying to spread them out over a longer period of time so our healthcare system doesn't buckle.

carmine frigate
#

if you only test for corona on people that are dead mortality rate shows 100%

there is no math to be done with these numbers ๐Ÿ˜›

plucky pagoda

Not only that , but the longer we spread it out the better our treatments become and things like antibody testing start to be available which allows us to act more precisely in fighting it.

bronze axle
#

What?

median wraith
plucky pagoda

@carmine frigate That's simply not how it works. We have models that predict the actual number of cases even without testing and those models have been very accurate in predicting the number of people who will show up in the hospital.

I once went to a Saatchi and Saatchi seminar on marketing for the web, and when I left at the end, I had learned nothing that wasn't utterly obvious. "Your branding is important" was the main focus. Really? You get paid ยฃ250 an hour to tell people that?

winter zealot
#

i mean its a common right winged thing to say that the economies of the world are doing fine by just looking at some stats

it's easy to have stats say what's wanted

gosh yeah, the webinars

they also say "telling the story" all the time even when it doesn't mean anything

"telling the story of the brand" "of the product" blablabla

it's like they don't think and regurgitate templated jargon instead

yeah and then they just basically repeat what they printed out from the wiki of Coca-cola or some other brands, and say "be like Coca-cola". Yeah cool, in 100 years when everyone alive has seen my branding, I might just do that.

I have a question - I've been learning quite a bit about UE4, have worked through several tutorials, including this Udemy one I'm halfway through (on lesson 117). The issue is, however, what I would like to build in UE4 isn't exactly a "game" as such, it's more of a "menu". It's to be used internally for some people in my work group. Basically, I'd like to have a top navigation to where different categories can be selected, and then based on the selection, different options to select appear in the main window. Fairly simplistic, really.

Can anyone point me towards a proper tutorial for that type of project? I've done a couple "build a menu for your game" tutorials in UE4 I found on YouTube but they were only loosely relevant.

fathom wadi
#

Is it a menu for your Taxi business?

short shadow
#

Yes, me, Louie, and Latka are building a side-business.

fathom wadi

ps. Widget Switcher + Combobox

plucky pagoda

It's very doable with UMG but I don't know if UE would be my first choice for that type of application.

fathom wadi
#

yeah javascript + css + html5 would be better suited

short shadow
#

Mike: What framework might you use? I have a C/C++ background, I looked at QT, the issue is I want it to be a local application, not web-based, that can be installed on Windows or Mac. More of an exercise if nothing else.

raw rose
#

The only issue with UMG is controller/keyboard support. But that shouldn't be an issue for that

UMG, ok, thank you, will check that out.

plucky pagoda
#

Forgetting makes life liveable

#

It's almost fundamental to being human to be able to normalize anything

short shadow
#

Right. What attracted me to UE4 was the graphical capabilities, the textures look very clean, and the network functionality, as I might plan to add real-time chat or Facebook-like forum-esque functionality.

I still have memories of when I was a few weeks old and a doctor gave me an enema on my parent's couch because I was constipated from birth. I thought I was older, but my mother told me otherwise.

quiet narwhal
#

there is no reason a local application cannot be done with HTML/JS, run a local web server or if its just visual stuff you can just load it in the browser. Otherwise you can use electron to appify it

fathom wadi
#

@short shadow textures in UMG are not as clean as in a browser. They have to allow for 3d engine nuances that the browser doesn't need to deal with.

quiet narwhal
#

what they suggested was correct tho. look at all the widgets in UMG and using basic communication you can set up anything you wanted.

plucky pagoda

@short shadow What about wxWidgets? I mean UE can do it but if you're strong with c++ it looks like there's a few cross platform options.

raw rose
#

Something I noticed about low poly design is that it just looks bad when it's in a dark setting. Textureless low poly design relies on brighter lighting too much.

vocal vapor
#

I doubt any of these new features are going to be used.

short shadow
#

@plucky pagoda I'll check that out, but since it was asked, another factor in my selecting of UE4 was, in addition to wanting to be able to compile on Windows and Mac OS, I might want to "gamify" aspects of this application over time, add some small mini-games or some such, so I figured an engine specializing in such might do the trick.

#

Perhaps UE4 is overkill for that as well.

fathom wadi
#

there is a 3d engine in regular web tools now.

plucky pagoda
#

Idk, maybe. You can always tie something in later. I mean you can do it in UE for sure it just might be more work at first.

fathom wadi
#

first thing I would if I was gonna use UE to do this, would be strip it. Entirely. Make a barebones build. But consider that you will always have bloat in this scenario

it could be irrelevant bloat tho

Ok

you could probably use Slate as a standalone app to do this

quiet narwhal

if you dont know UMG no reason not to use the free stuff from epic to learn the basics

tender lily

Is slate worth learning? Anything it can do that UMG canโ€™t or vice versa? As I understand UMG is just a blueprint wrapper over slate isnโ€™t it?

How to proper grammar

Shouldnโ€™t there be a colon after โ€œhow toโ€?

It should be "How to load a level from UI."

#

Question: I hear good things about UE4's licensing, how it's fair, as experts, is that your take as well? I believe it's 5% of all sales once a certain threshold is met?

fathom wadi
#

it's fairer than a kick in the teeth. I mean, it depends on how much you expect to make. If you were going to make 100 billion quid, then its probably better to buy the full license. But if you are going to make nothing to 500k profit, it's definitely the best on the market for it's quality

quiet narwhal
#

Epic wants money from you if you make money, its pretty fair

short shadow
#

I see, so if one was releasing a proper AAA title, one can purchase the "full license" that isn't based on a percentage of sales, yes?

quiet narwhal
#

yes the normal licensing can still be negotiated

short shadow
#

Unreal Engine End User License Agreement for Publishing: This license is free to use and incurs 5% royalties when you monetize your game or other interactive off-the-shelf product and your gross revenues from that product exceed $3,000 per quarter.

#

Right, I see. so it's assumed 5%, and if you were going big time you can work out a deal with them directly.

That seems reasonable.

@north torrent I was watching a streamer the other day and his keyboard was right next to his mic, with mechanical keys and on a hard desk surface. I asked if he could put a towel or something under it to muffle the noise, and he pretty much said fuck you. Last time I watch him I guess.

Dogs have been loyal to the human race for a very long time, so they diserve a certain level of respect from humans.

analog buttons are a thing we just typically design for the lowest common denominator, well in the non VR space we do

pretty sure most games are designed for 2 or 3 button mice even though its common to have 5 or more

tulip orbit
#

do you actually use the side buttons for anything? I have one set for the back button on browsers, and thats about all I use it for.

pearl elk
#

I know someone who set all of them to grenade lol

rare sparrow
#

Yeah. Any game that has stuff bound to the arrow keys I have bound to the 4 buttons at the bottom back, so G15, G16, G18 and G19. I had actually mapped all 12 side keys in Overwatch to activate each spray, voice line and emote at one point, then I changed some around and tend to make G9 crouch in most games

pearl elk
#

Ive got the g500s so I have 3 on the side, barely use em though cuz I roll with default binds most the time

rare sparrow
#

I have it setup to switch between perspectives in Unreal and have Ctrl and Alt mapped as well for easy one handed blueprint editing

pearl elk
#

Thing is if I remap g for grenade in one game guaranteed someone puts in on left ctrl, f or somethin else in another

#

be nice if we had some sort of function mapping so we could say grenade is always this on my setup

tulip orbit
#

the ctrl/alt thing is a good idea...

rare sparrow
#

I map middle mouse click to the ring finger button and use that as melee in games

#

If I ever want to use G-shift I'll map it to G8 and only use it for more obscure things that aren't too important. I actually have the perspectives in Unreal setup this way

#

It's just really convenient and I can't see myself using a mouse with less buttons after having used this for a few years now

#

It's also great for any game where you could use a macro to speed things up or to prevent you from repeating a ton of tasks. Lots of buttons to put macros on

tulip orbit
#

just looking at my bindings atm, for some reason g14 is Shift+W. And I just discovered that pressing the middle scrollwheel sideways is a back/forward

rare sparrow

Yup, I love scroll wheels that do that

carmine frigate

i wunna have 6 side buttons 2 pairs or 3, but those are kinda rare

#

or those 2 extra buttons on the left mouse click are useless too

I was actually surprised that my new logitech mouse didn't even have lateral control on scrollwheel

carmine frigate

they should be right side

stiff crystal

I got that here too on the other desk

carmine frigate

yea those 2 extra buttons on left button

stiff crystal
#

now on G603

carmine frigate
#

they should be right side

rare sparrow
#

Scroll wheel gave out on me, so I got the G600

stiff crystal
#

neither of G602 or G603 got those sidescroll buttons

carmine frigate
#

that1 looks decent on sidebuttons, but i like my wires

stiff crystal
#

I have two G700 here too with all broken buttons

carmine frigate
#

actually if they got that1 wired id order it right now

stiff crystal
#

both 602 and 603 are too small for my hands :/

#

it's such a struggle to find proper sized mice anymore

carmine frigate
#

yea they should make every model in 3 sizes

stiff crystal
#

there's a trend now where they've made everything smaller

#

happens with even console gamepads etc

#

I guess they try to make all these fit for even younger audience

#

wish you could have those console gamepads in multiple sizes

#

for example xbox one gamepad is way too tiny for my grip :/

carmine frigate
#

got a 360 controller it works just fine ๐Ÿ™‚

stiff crystal
#

360 works fine for me

#

but they are also worse quality

carmine frigate
#

mine last a while now

stiff crystal
#

and I do like what they did with the center button on xbox one pad

carmine frigate
#

years

stiff crystal
#

I got 2x wireless x360 pads here

carmine frigate
#

same

#

i mean wired

stiff crystal
#

I've swapped both analog sticks once from those already

#

their deadzones get really bad after some use

#

and dpads straight up suck

carmine frigate
#

i like it if i dont have to look for bats when i pull those things out again

#

dont use em often

stiff crystal
#

I have modded dpads on those but they still are kinda wonky

#

one controllers dpad works way better

#

but nothing like PS controllers where dpads are actually great

pearl elk
#

Im not sure why they dont make different sizes tbh, just scale the thing up 10-20%

stiff crystal
#

yup

#

one size fits all feels silly

pearl elk
#

thankfully most stuff fits me okay, I got short stubby fingers ๐Ÿ˜›

rare sparrow
#

I like claw-gripping anyway

stiff crystal
#

tbh, they probably could fix some of this by some additional bolt-on grips

#

but the ones they sell are just for extra grip, not for extra volume

carmine frigate
#

great opportunity to sell plastic for premium price and they dont take it

stiff crystal
#

issue I have on xbox one controller is that my hands are too close to all triggers and buttons

#

have to bend fingers in weird positions

#

I use shoulder buttons at the first/middle part of my finger as using it with fingertips would be awkward

pearl elk
#

you need some gamepad socks ๐Ÿ˜›

rare sparrow
#

After using a mouse with 3 main buttons for so long it makes me wonder why there aren't more

#

Using the third button as middle mouse, I use it probably more than right click outside of games

#

I'll often use it to scroll instead of the scroll wheel

#

There's just so much stuff middle mouse button does which makes it worth having it on a ring finger button. Like opening links in a new tab and even closing tabs without needing to click on the little x
