They have to fight among each other for the the 30% of positions left for full time employees. The 30% that win get to stay at the company and take a paycut. The 70% that lose... well, they all lose their job. They can't even step down to a lower position, they are tossed from the company.
These are often people who have spent 10 years or more working their way up managment at Walmart.
Then Walmart is hiring part time workers at entry level pay to come in and fill the jobs of those 70%.
It is literally the most dystopian thing I have ever seen, having all your employees fight it out for a few jobs and tossing the rest.

Well, Mr. Slivinski, there is certainly a core problem with corporations having employees taking public assistance.
It is actually one of my core passions when it comes to trying to fight the current political system.
But that is a different conversation to me.
In this context I am just saying that a decade ago Walmart was better to its employees than other equivalent large employers who were doing the exact same thing. That Walmart was working in an industry of companies that did the worng thing, so Walmart doing the wrong thing wasn't unique or different than the rest of the stores.
I am by no means supporting that. Just saying that shopping at Kroger instead isn't helping the problem.

Corporation stock buybacks allows a company like General Motors to take the $6 billion in record profits they just made, buy $6 billion of their own stocks (as opposed to using that $6 billion to invent new products, hire more employees, pay more) and in return it shoots up the stock market price and makes the guys at the top who own all the stock filthy rich.
Before Ronald Reagan made corporate stock buybacks legal again, companies took those earnings and used them in the company. Better stores, better pay, more inovation.

In order to return the US back to some level of sanity, Mr. Slivinski, I think it is important to put some control on the runaway power of corporations and their ability to just squash all small businesses.
Raising the minimum wage without protecting small businesses from the insane power corporations have in 2020 is going to cause many problems.
I would still vote for it. But I would rather have a solution that both raises wages for the working class and gives small businesses more of a chance to survive.

They're talking about a specific type, the N95 masks, which are not intuitive to use and they offer no protection if you don't know how.
Not to mention, the mask doesn't do much to protect healthy people from catching the virus. They're better at preventing people who are already sick from spreading the virus.
