GPU: GeForce RTX 3060 12gb Ventus 2x
Edition Windows 11 Home
Version 23H2
Installed on ‎2024-‎01-‎25
OS build 22631.5335
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22700.1081.0

Every time I have tried to install the NVIDIA App or GeForce Experience, I keep running into an error that either says "There was a problem. Try uninstalling and reinstalling" or along the lines to restart my PC and try again.

Trouble shooting I have tried: Complete re-install of all drivers and anything NVIDIA related. Ensuring everything is installing to my C: Drive. Manually installing newest drivers.

I have spent probably more than 5 hours trying to restart, reinstall etc. ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED. I have tried to find a fix via the official NVIDIA site, Reddit, Youtube etc.

I will attach my SYSINFO file.

Some antivirus block the installation of certain elements of nvidia app, geforce is discontinued. I had webroot and trying to install nvidia app gave me problems because webroot blocked certain things, i had to completely remove the A/V all the way to its core process on task manager.

I think the only thing I have for antivirus would just be the Windows one. I can try turning it off and see if that helps.. I have tried turning off the Windows firewall already

First make sure geforce experience is completely uninstalled, uninstall then reboot pc, then try to install nvidia app. I am using the defender from windows as well and havent had problems so far.

Ok im gonna try to start. Just uninstalled the app/geforce

Now to give you an example, webroot left a blocker in task manager that i was only able to remove by booting the pc in safe mode, even unistalled the blocker remained, so if you had a previous A/V see if it didnt have a Core process still running in task manager.

Oof. Might have had something like many years ago but I'll check just in case. It's weird because I used to have experience on my PC before too and never had issues installing it. Usually all my issues were storage related

#

Like the app will pop up on my desktop just opening it is just not happening :/

#

Alright gonna dig through task manager now

#

I'm assuming to try these

#

Ah both are Microsoft defender processes

#

idk if this is useful

light lynx
#

Yea, i have those too, since am using defender. They shouldnt interfere. Yea, restart those services and set them to automatic.

sharp sequoia
#

sounds good

#

restarted them and set frameview to automatic and still not working :(

OK, and which nvidia app version are you trying to install. And is the app uninstalled from the app tab on windows?

sharp sequoia
#

Vers v11.0.4.148. I have uninstalled the app from the app tab

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WiMlI3OBRIo One of the solutions is to completely uninstall everything nvidia then retry but you already did that. Only thing that comes to mind is that something in your system is limiting the permissions to nvidia, particularly the telemetry of nvidia.

Just noticed my windows needs to be updated so I'll try that to see if it helps

When you right click the nvidia app installer does it have the tag, "this file cames from another system"? And have you tried launching it as administrator.

#

One of the things that gets recommended in this forum is using DDU for removal of drivers.

sharp sequoia
#

No it doesn't say it came from another system and I have tried launching it as admin

light lynx
#

Well, you might want to uninstall... again using DDU then reinstall the GPU drivers then try to launch the app. But since i had the same thing happen to me with geforce experience, its something in your system preventing the installation of the nvdia app.

#

Also when or if your app was running were you logged as user in the app?

sharp sequoia
#

couoldnt even check user setting

#

it would start up, spin a few times and give me an error

light lynx
#

Well, if you decide to use DDu, try to check on the nvidia website your profile, on account management in the lower left check security, devices then kick yourself out if you are logged.

#

Thanks

sharp sequoia
#

Just deleted a bunch of Nvidia files, deleted Nvidia registry keys and now gonna use DDU once in safe mode

sharp sequoia
#

Never got it fixed 😭 I really don't want to go through a clean install of windows

light lynx

Yes, it is extreme to reinstall windows just for the app. But the GPU drivers install fine? You could try to DL older nvidia app packages and see if one of those install. They still will auto update but maybe you can pinpoint at which build you cant install anymore. https://nvidia-app.en.uptodown.com/windows/versions
