You can try repasting it, as the paste is probably degraded pretty bad, but keep in mind that your GPU was released over 9 years ago, and the average lifespan before they start to fail is closer to 5 to 8 years, very much depending on the stress the cards been though, and errors and crashes like that are potential signs of failure. Artifacts are a common one too.
