So I have tv hooked up via GPU with HDMI and 2 monitors connected via Display port on GPU. One of my monitors will get a no signal if my tv isn’t in the correct input for my PC but sometimes I don’t want to use my TV on my PC….how can I prevent the one monitor from getting a no signal error

okay so let's start from the bottom, how are your things connected exactly and to which ports? Also which specific model GPU do you own so i can check the outputs

3090 Strix

#

I have one hdmi port connected to TV and 2 dp ports connected to each monitor

#

All connected to GPU

#

if my TV isn’t in the right input for the pc connection, one of my monitors gets a no signal error

#

Just upgraded to new driver

#

I think this issue has happened before

#

Now if I switch the TV to another input it doesn’t do anything

#

Almost like the TV has to be in that input when PC boots up. Wondering if that is normal when TVs connected to GPU

digital ridge
#

so if you unplug the TV, one of the DP outputs stops working altogether?

#

if I have the TV in a different input than the one connected to the GPU, the one monitor gets no signal

digital ridge
#

OH

#

i understand

#

which TV do you own

fleet shore
#

But I just found out if I switch it to the appropriate input then that monitor does get a signal and after the pC starts, I can switch it back

#

LG B9

#

I guess it’s not that much of a hassle but didn’t know if that is normal; to require the TV to be on that specific input when PC boots up so all the monitors can get a initial proper signal

#

Many times I don’t use my TV for any computer use…so that’s why I ask

digital ridge
#

can you try and figure out if you can turn on/off HDMI/CEC (Simplink) in your TV's menus?

fleet shore
#

It’s off now

#

Well it was off

#

And still is

digital ridge
#

what about "auto device connection"?

fleet shore
#

That is on

#

And I assume always been on

#

Probably turn that off?

digital ridge
#

Try turning that off, see if that does anything

#

i had a very similar issue, turns out it was a bad HDMI cable btw

fleet shore
#

Yea I tried another cable and it was doing the same thing

digital ridge
#

hmmmm

fleet shore
#

But let me restart the PC with the tv in a different input and see if that works

digital ridge
#

and you say this is something that would happen, then got fixed by a driver update, but is now happening again?

fleet shore
#

No it has happened before I think , and I was just letting you know I updated to the newest driver that was released today or yesterday

#

Hey that worked

#

Thanks

#

Appreciate it

#

Very minor issue but very inconvenient

#

Thanks for helping me out
