#Can a bad SSD cause Black Screen of Death?

WD SN770, installed months ago - I have experienced random Black Screen of Death. I initially thought is my PSU is having problems everytime a game loads up.

But recently 2 days, just downloading 100gb file from Internet caused a B(lack)SOD as well.

Ram tested all 4 passes on Memtest86. There was firmware update done yesterday on SN770. It seems like it stopped BSOD now.

Just a curious question, if can SSD can be the cause of this if anyone had experience this before. This is the first time for me.

Black Screen of Death = PC Reset, Reboot on its own. No blue screen log at all.

Did you clean install windows when switching to an SSD?

Clean installed yeah, I am suspecting the old firmware of SN770 was the culprit. So far running all stress test, Memtest86, Realbench, SSD test via BIOS for 6-12 hours. All stable after the SN770 new firmware.

Currently, holding back my Corsair PSU to RMA because I don't want to go through that long process if this is not the PSU issue at all afterall.

#

nope but "pci device drive" error in the sys log after an unexpected shutdown. (before SN770 new firmware)

There is a high probability now it is resolved with the new SN770 firmware. Fingercrossed right now.

Ordered a PSU tester on the way.
