#Retroarch 64 controller mapping

I have a USB n64 controller I'm trying to map and while retroarch does detect the controller (unlike Mupen), the A and B buttons seemed to have their associations backwards and Retroarch's controller binding settings are completely alien to me. Even going through Set All Controls asks for a Y button bind (the n64 does not have a Y button) and won't ask for C-button inputs. Even weirder, it asks for Select and R3 L3 inputs.

Is this the wrong menu or something?

Trial-and-error brute forcing worked eventually. This has to be an installation issue or something; input UI shouldn't be this jacked up.
