After lots of quick play and deciding to finally play comp again, this was my first game back. I felt that the team played well, even if the hog might have needed to switch towards the end. I just can't help but wonder if there's anything I could do better. I know I probably over-focus on healing my team, but I'd like more specific advice on when and how to avoid that and what I can do instead. I'm not actually sure what my rank is because my highest ever support rank was diamond 2 a few seasons ago, but the friend I got there with said I was probably pretty boosted. I'd wager I'm truly a mid to high plat rn, and my projected rank is gold 1 (I guess because of the rank down/reset? Idk how it works.) I'm also not sure how boosted one can be in Overwatch. I don't think that I could have gotten that high simply because my team was good; I'd like to think that I was at least keeping up. What do y'all think?

Replay code: 90Y7EF

In-game username: fishbouy (queued with Gillon and Andoruu)

Hero(es) played: Ana

Skill tier / rank: Unranked but Gold 1-Diamond 5 (explained above)

Description of the match / things you want reviewed: My general gameplay, positioning, ult usage, utility usage, let me know if I'm heal-botting, what I could have done better/differently. I'd also like to see what you think my actual rank is.

Thanks!

GM player here, I noticed many areas of your gameplay for improvement. I would summarise the main issues as follows: Cooldowns, Rotations and Uptime. The biggest issue is that you are not getting value out of your sleep and nade, while you consistently use them, there's not much thought about how to use them and when you do actually use them they are often very rushed and you miss as a result. This is partly due to the second problem which is a lack of understanding where to position and rotate to as Ana, it's good that you understand Ana is a long range character, but you often play too far back to see the enemies and don't know how to open up angles to do both dmg and healing in the fight, hence putting you in a position to simply watch your teammates fall over and making it feel like there's nothing more you can do. The third issue is uptime, there are many instances for you to be proactive, largely involving shooting the enemies more.

For your overall gameplay you have decent cover, healing and awareness. However you struggle to rotate to the right positions to play, get little value out of your cds and forget to keep your distance when the fights are more chaotic. You also should be doing way more dmg. A good statline for Ana is around 5k dmg and 8k heals per 10min btw. I would guess gold/plat rank based on this game.

Am happy to do a VOD with you if interested. DM me 🙂
