#Bronze 3 Soldier rjaguar3 [KWBSM1]

i watched a bit of it and i could tell you what mistakes you made but that would make no difference at all. you need to work on your aim. even if you played everything perfectly and made no mistakes you would still be bronze because of your aim. try a aim trainer of some sort
Thanks for the feedback. If you can please do share your non-aim feedback as well so I can work on that in game.
That has me curious to watch because the amount of mechanical overlap from bronze to diamond is higher than it should be. Unless you're really struggling as a new fps player, any aim issues could probably be massively improved with setup and settings changes.
What mouse do you use, what framerate do you get and what's your dpi/sensitivity?
Logitech G309 mouse, 144 Hz (same as in-laptop Monitor), 1600 DPI, 5% sensitivity.
5.0 and 1600 is pretty high for a hitscan player
What do you recommend?
I also seem pretty reticent to use my whole arm when aiming.
I've never been formally taught how to aim so my mechanics are probably way off.
try lowering to 4 and see if you can turn okay and track in close quarters
2/1600 is a common stopping point
Whatever you can use without preventing you from tracking enemies in any situation is best for you
arm aiming is just a habit to get into although kinda misleading as the farther the target the faster your crosshair moves relative to the target so you still use your wrist a lot unless you have an obscenely low sens
it's moreso if you have a sens slower than 10"/360 then you use arm movements to position, pre aim, and snap to targets
What does the term "pre aim" mean here?
When you have a general idea where enemies would peek from or become visible so you keep your crosshair in a ready position to reduce movement required when they show themselves.
I am a new FPS player so any tips on aiming would be appreciated.
Generally players with good aim who make it look easy tend to have a strong grasp of player movement and behavior so they position their crosshair in a way that requires the least input from them to be on target.
You can either have someone help you learn the maps by volunteering to peek around corners and obstacles with different movement, or spawn some bots in a workshop mode and also go in third person to understand hero heights in relation to various terrain.
There are a few aim trainers in the overwatch workshop but this mainly just trains your ability to follow a pre determined movement arc. Still might help you find your stopping point for reducing sensitivity
<@&1144841851791212564> Anyone have positioning feedback before this replay expires?
Or maybe I should try again with another replay after brump
No harm in posting another code a week after this one. Give yourself some time to get used to the sensitivity changes you’ve made and build muscle memory. Overloading yourself with too many things to work on at once is counterproductive. That being said, once you feel confident and stable after those changes, you can DM me directly and I’ll VOD review your next code with you.
I changed to 5% is that okay?
Not sure given queue times if I will have another competitive replay after patch bump and before the end of the season.
Is there someone I can go through to figure out what the right sensitivity should be? I think I don't understand what I should be doing with sensitivity.
@stiff lotus
It depends on your mouse space. One full swipe from the left end of your comfortable mouse space to the right end should be roughly 360. Because I personally use a relatively large mouse space, I have a relatively low sens. From there, you can adjust to personal preference. The lower the sens, the more precise and controlled you’ll be but the harder it’ll be to do things like tracking very close targets or ripping 180s
I'm confused by sensitivity being a personal preference but yet the sensitivity being wrong for me.
The season just started so no rush in getting another code
As in the sensitivity is so obviously bad that it's the only actionable feedback anyone has on my play.
It’s personal preference within reason. I haven’t watched your gameplay but I will say your previous sens was on the high end. Nothing wholly unreasonable but something to consider
I'm kind of worried this will just keep happening until I get grandmaster levels of aim.
I’m sure it’s not the only thing to give feedback on, and it may not even be the most important thing. But it’s enough for someone to think it’ll make a large impact to work on. So work on that first, get used to it, and stick with it from there.
I believe that was the consensus due to the aim looking unstable and shaky.
It's much easier to control and make consistent habits if you use whatever sensitivity works with your available mouse space without limiting you.
Are there any more actionable steps for aim I can take? In the voltaic trainer I am at 1st percentile and below iron rank but don't know where to ask as to how to improve aim.
Even sensitivities that are on the low end for overwatch (15-20" / 360) are still middle of the road in some games like cs and valorant
Don’t worry, aim quickly becomes one of the least important things to focus on in a VOD review. But because you’re a newer player, and new to FPS in general, it’s beneficial to work on nailing down the muscle memory now
As mentioned already, crosshair placement, or pre-aim, is one of the biggest factors. If you’re still unfamiliar with most of the maps, this will come with time and learning what’s “popular” in player habit
Sorry, I meant I guess in terms of I should be at least bronze complete in Voltaic before I even consider trying to rank up.
And I don't know how pre-aim applies to the benchmarks.
Brother I’ll be honest I have no idea wtf Voltaic is lol. Most aim trainers aren’t rlly all that good for OW. Just play the game itself more
You should be more than adequate at getting out of bronze if you can be 50 percentile on strafe track and spidershot in aimlabs.
I am using Kovaaks (previously aimlabs).
I am 1st percentile on most of the novice-level benchmarks.
Which basically means bottom 1%.
What does it score you low on in those?
Pretty much everything:
I believe there's detailed reports somewhere, unless kovaaks doesn't have it. Lemme see in aimlabs
These types of post game reports.
I don't know how to pull that up.
Should show after every play through of an individual scenario
I think those are more helpful than voltaic playlists if you're new to fps in general
Because it will tell you some basics like what part of the screen you have more difficulty with, directionally
So what playlists should I be using?
Anything that trains tracking and flicking is more than good enough
I don't know where to find these.
I believe in kovaaks there's a mode that only gives you points if you're moving while shooting
Which is helpful to train playing soldier and being able to strafe and track well at the same time
Thanks. I'm new to kovaaks so I don't really understand how it works.
play air nuns no ufo or air angelic 4, thats what a lot of soldier players play
if its too hard you can look for an easy version
I don't know what any of this is.
on kovaaks
they are scenarios which you can search for
Okay, thanks for clarifying
How should I be setting up my sensitivity? I don't think I understand what I should be looking for.
A decent baseline is moving from the left end of your total comfortable mouse space to the right end should be at least one 360 or slightly over a 360
outside of that it's personal preference more than anything else. Once you have one that feels decent to you, you just have to stick with it and build the muscle memory. Aim is ofc important but even widows with aimbot are hardstuck at only Diamond so it's far from the most important thing.
Range of motion is super important. If it's really difficult to track player movement at different speeds (because of moving too quickly even when you try to use slow, delicate movements) then it's going to need you to lower it
